Where's the annual "what are you giving up for lent" thread?
Or have we lost all the Catholics who used to post here?
Anyway not being into the whole giving something up thing I thought I'd take a different approach this year and try to do a quick work out in the mornings when I get up (or you can look at it as sacrificing laziness
). So far I'm 0 for 2 though

I don't do the lent thing, but my gf does. I hate it because she'll give up something like eatting out and i'm forced to suffer.

gave up my vices--alcohol and cigarettes (social smoker only so that shouldnt be tough).
in addition to giving somethign up, i usually give something extra as well. for this lent, spend 5 min in meditation/prayer per day and clean a room per week in my apt.

I'm not Catholic and never used do partake in lent, but I decided that I actually like the idea a couple of years back.
This year, it's sugary foods. 24 hours in and it's already hard.
Thank goodness for Diet Coke w/ Lime.

When I was a little kid I had a security blanket. My mother decided it was time for me to give it up, so she managed to trick me into giving up the blanket for Lent (even we weren't Catholic or even much religious). I guess it's a good thing I gave up the blanket before I got too old, but I thought that was pretty sneaky.

i thought about giving up two things. carbonated drinks and eating out. so far so good on the cokes but eating out is going to be limited instead of eliminated due to my hectic schedule.

The wife and I are both giving up soda. I was going to give up all carbonated beverages, but then I had a reality check and thought I was being completely selfish - the beer industry needs my support.

Im giving up fast food. I started early, so I'm already 5 days in. In addition to eating better, I've noticed more money in my wallet too.

Sucks for me.
I also missed Ash Wed. I'm kinda dissappointed in myself though cause I haven't been to church since I got married this past July. I always tell my wife that we should go but then we end up just hanging out at home.
