I just witnessed a hit and run.

I had just finished loading up my car with groceries and returning my cart to the coral when a black man and woman hopped into their early-90s pathfinder which was parked immediately to my left.

I hopped into my car and waited for them to pull out. I was screwing with the radio when I heard a loud crunch. The pathfinder had backed into another car attempting the same maneuver in the reverse direction. The other car was a late-90s Altima filled with 5 or 6 20-something Asian kids (50/50 m/f).

The Asian kids all hop out of the car to talk to the driver of the Pathfinder, but as they approach, the woman in the front seat waves them off as though the guy was going to pull back into his space so they could talk. Im not sure if it was the scope of the damage that scared them (the spare of the pathfinder had crushed the Altima's trunk), or if they had bad intentions all along, but as soon as the cars were seperated, the Pathfinder tore out of the back of the parking lot.

I made chase to the end of the row and secured the license plate number and then doubled back to the accident. It looked like there were a couple of women who didn't already have frozen food in their trunk and were willing to help so I just made sure they had the plate number and was on my way.

If you run from a no-fault accident, do you incur full liability?

California Vehicle Codes 20001, 20001a 20002, 20002a, 20002b Hit and run/injury/property damage. This person could be arrested for a felony, no matter who is “at fault” in CA.

It's the fault of the supermarket. Their striping is so crooked that the Pathfinder driver thought he was in his own lane.

... you said it! If it wasn't for the witnesses, the drunk who clipped my Tercel & subsequently caused me to break my femur could've gotten away.

I saw a woman back into a car at the mall one day and she looked at me and took off anyway. I did get her plate and I left a note on the car that got hit. Well the guy called me and he thought I had hit the car. After I explained I was just trying to help him and that another person hit his car he said oh ok and hung up. I never heard what happened....

Yeah, they do. I had two cars get hit and run previously. I wish somebody had got a license plate number for me. Good job!
