I can't speak for Pharoh, but for me it comes from just having read this:

Plus, as we established during the last sheep game, I can name all the presidents in order.

Spoiler:
Correct answers are John Adams, John Quincy Adams, Van Buren, W. H. Harrison, Polk, Taylor, Pierce, Buchanan, Garfield, B. Harrison, T. Roosevelt, Taft, Harding, Coolidge, Hoover, Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, George H.W. Bush, and Obama

I actually got the question wrong. I said Chester A Arthur, but he wasn't elected to the Presidency. Just realized that now. Then again, he was elected to the vice presidency so technically it fits the question :P

Stupid phone rang while I was in the middle of composing my post. Rockmjd already identified his own error.

It was definitely very pro-Whig (that's OK; so am I). I am not familiar with the Wilentz book -- I will have to check it out.

So does anyone actually understand the scoring? A wrong answer is not penalized?

I pretty much just blew my chances on that one. I'll go from 8 pts down to 22.

I'm sure it will be penalized next time the Bus updates the scores. But unfortunately, he's probably already logged off for his week-long abdication of his responsibilities as Sheepmaster.

Not that it matters for me, but I couldn't find Gail Lightfoot as vice president on any general election ballots.

Having read that didn't hurt, (I actually looked through it again recently after you mentioned reading it), but the fact that I come from Ohio also helped greatly.

Coolidge succeeded to the presidency in 1923 upon the death of President Harding, stood for re-election in 1924, and chose not to run in 1928 (in that respect, he was similar to the second President Johnson, although the circumstances of their decisions not to run for a second full term were obviously quite different).

I think someone should have taken over for The Bus and his unexpected week long leave of absence. Wow!

I'm kicking myself over a couple of my answers. That's what I get for being busy at work and filling them out as quickly as possible. I think I'd be doing better with an all sheep round, as those are much easier to answer quickly.

I'm still here, I just need to do some work and packing. I'll update Rock's score being incorrect.

Top 50%! Woo hoo!

I can't believe I misread the question and answered a country that lost more than 100,000 lives in WWII.
