Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl LIX 59 2025 Halftime performer
Maroon 5 was the last band to perform in 2019 and since then mostly solo artists and 2022 the West Coast rappers.
Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar will be the headlining act for the Super Bowl LIX halftime show.
Lamar announced the news on Sunday on his social media pages, as did the NFL.
“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one,” Lamar said in a statement on Sunday.
Super Bowl LIX will take place February 9, 2025 in New Orleans and air on FOX.
The NFL, Roc Nation and Apple Music announced the news on the first Sunday of the 2024-2025 regular season.
The “Not Like Us” rapper made his debut on the Super Bowl halftime show stage in 2022 when he performed alongside Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige and 50 Cent.
I assume Taylor Swift has to do it in 2026 for Super Bowl 60 in Swiftie Clara (Santa Clara).

They don't to pick a rap or R&B artist every year and spread it around different genres.
Metallica and the Foo Fighters should get a chance too.

It's not my cup of tea, but there were rock and pop acts for 30+ years. If Rap and R&B are getting the focus for a few years, that's ok with me. As far as Metallica is concerned, they've said several times they aren't interested in playing the SuperBowl. I suppose they could change their stance on that though.

Perfect choice to get people in their main demo watching. People will watch just to see how badly he clowns Drake and if he gets away with the line "certified loverboy; certified pedophile" on live TV.

Yes, it actually is. Kendrick is the FIRST musical performer/songwriter outside of Jazz or Classical to ever win a Pulitzer Prize for Music. He's probably the most critically acclaimed rapper ever, and he's only had 5 albums released so far. And Not Like Us was undoubtedly the song of the Summer (or 1A, along with Espresso).

Not actually related to the Super Bowl, but Beyoncé will be performing at halftime of the Ravens - Texans Christmas Day game on Netflix. Who knows if it will be buffering half the time, but it will be her first live performances of songs from COWBOY CARTER.

A Xmas game is a getting a Super Bowl halftime performer and performance?
Maybe Teddy Swims or Benson Boone or somebody that is popular but not as big as Beyonce would be sufficient.
She must be getting paid a lot and doubt she would do this for free.
Super Bowl is different since it that the biggest game on earth with the largest audience.

Don't forget she REALLY wants an Album of the Year Grammy. There's been very little marketing done for COWBOY CARTER. Not even a music video. I'd say while it's still the favorite, the album currently has a lower profile than the albums of Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift. This high profile, widely watched event will put her back in the conversation and back in the forefront of the minds of Grammy voters.

Not saying, BTW, that she’s playing for free like a Super Bowl gig. Netflix has FU money to blow on this broadcast. But it is mutually beneficial for her to perform.
