Very sad to hear this.

Re: RIP: Tina Turner
Saw her in like 2001 on her tour where Gloria Ruben left ER to be her background singer. Only time I ever got concert tickets in a luxury suite. It was great, she was amazing. So glad I got to see her live and still near her peak.

Re: RIP: Tina Turner
I'm just old enough to remember the bulk of her solo career in the 1980s. RIP.

Re: RIP: Tina Turner
She, without a doubt, is one of the all-time greats in the music business. I have aways been such a huge fan of hers. May you Rest In Peace. :(

Re: RIP: Tina Turner
The word gets overused but I think this is a case where “iconic” is the only apt description.

Re: RIP: Tina Turner
This made me smile. She was okay with her mortality, so I should be as well.

Re: RIP: Tina Turner
Watching some of the live clips of her (both with and after Ike), it just reminds me of the time I met Ike in the mid 90's.
I was working at Circuit City at the time, and he came in with his, "Posse." 3 other guys and a woman. Well, Ike's looking for a TV, see, only Ike won't lower himself to talk to me. He won't even make eye contact with me 99% of the time. He has questions, but he has one of his guys act as a spokesman and he gives his questions to the guy, the guy asks me, and I answer the questions. I try to talk directly to Ike, but he just kind of ignores me, as if I'm some lowly peon who is beneath him, even if I have information that he wants and needs. So this went on for about 10 minutes, and I show him/them 2 or 3 TV's that are exactly what he's looking for, and good bargains for that class of TV at the time. After picking my brain through his guy, Ike informs him that they're leaving, the guy thanks me for my help, and they leave the store. It was amazing how arrogant and full of himself Ike still was at that point. He was a washed up has-been, a known wife beater/abuser, and he still acted like the King of the World. That's when my hate for Ike started. I knew what he did to Tina (not specifics, but in general), and for him to then, as a washed up has-been, act like he's some uber bigshot? https://storage.proboards.com/forum/...miley/grin.png What an asshole! And since then all I could think about was, "Jesus. Tina had to put up with that guy for all those years? Wow." I felt so bad for her. I mean, I only dealt with him for 10 minutes and I hated the guy. She had to deal with him for two decades! And he was abusive on top of being an arrogant asshole. She deserved every bit of good fortune that came her way in the 80's. I really hope she was as happy as she seemed to be. |

If there ever was a guy who needed spit or shit in his food after placing a order it would be Ike Turner.
