They need to just change the name to The Modern Music Hall Of Fame at this point (or something like that).
I know they won't, but it would sure make more sense with the variety of music and musicians they induct each year. Especially while so many prominent and important "Rock and Rollers" keep getting left out while sometimes questionable choices make it in.

No.
It's its own genre. If anything, artists in this genre should take pride that it's so big and DIFFERENT that it gets its own label and identity and culture. Hip hop/Rap is a primary genre of music that has sub-genres within it. When you go to iTunes, or Spotify, or whatever streaming music platform you use, do you have to go to Rock N Roll first to find all the Hip Hop/Rap music? No. It's its own category, and there's nothing wrong with that

I agree with it being its own genre but feel a rapper could have enough influence in rock to get a spot in the hall of fame. And no I don’t feel Missy Elliot is such a rapper.

The actual museum is cool. Lots of artifacts, instruments, iconic clothes, etc., but I've completely given up on the actual inductees. They blew through all the heavy hitters too quickly and now they're just picking up their personal favorites, a fan favorite or two just to shut them up, and trying to appeal to fans of tangential genres.

She may not be in the Dre / Jay Z / Tupac stratosphere, but she's no slouch. Billboard ranked her as the #19 all-time rap artist and Rollinhttps://www.billboard.com/lists/best-rappers-all-time/]g Stone[/url] picked Get Ur Freak On as the #38 all-time rap song.
And currently there are no female rap acts in the R&R HoF. Representation is important to the organization.

Missy Elliot?
I visited Cleveland in 2019 and went to the RnR Hall of Fame. I'm sorry, no one will ever be able to make a valid argument to allow artists who are firmly NOT part of the Rock N Roll genre to be inducted into the Rock N Roll HoF. If you're going to let musicians of ANY genre in, just rename the place the Music Hall of Fame.
Otherwise, letting R&B and rap artists in is Woke 101. Can't wait to be accused of being a racist by some posters.
For the record: Eminem? Nope, shouldn't ever be inducted either. Black artists who actually were/are part of the rock genre, IE Jimi Hendrix, Prince, and Chuck Berry? Absolutely deserve to be there

Britney Spears, New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys will get in before Iron Maiden, Joy Division, King Crimson and Jethro Tull.
Slayer should have been in before any of this years nominees made it. The entire thing is a joke.

I didn't realize Slayer wasn't in yet either. That's absurd.

Pretty dismissive because in addition to Baroque Pop she has a lot of Art Rock,Prog Rock and Alt Rock songs. She's arguably more influential then even Beefheart,Kraftwerk,The Residents and Frank Zappa among the big names of Experimental Music.
Only because of rigid genre snobbery she wasn't inducted years ago

True and maybe hard to say and admit Rock N' Roll is probably a outdated term and not a lot of bands that would fit in that criteria of music today and going into the future.
Maybe you can have branches and subcategories where Iron Maiden is in the music hall of fame under the Metal branch or hall.

I’m pretty sure Joy Division/New Order is going to get in the next time they’re nominated — after The Cure and Depeche Mode got in, it seems obvious that they and The Smiths are due up.

Re: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2023
My social media is exploding with outraged Maiden fans losing their shit.
I don't get it. Why the outrage?
I mean, I've been a Maiden fan since 1982 and they are only second to Sabbath as my favorite metal band, but it bothers me not at all that they didn't get "inducted" or whatever. The Rock Hall of Fame is not the arbiter of what constitutes important, lasting, or influential in music. They started in the 80s as Jan Wenner's little c!rcle-jerk of pompous, elitist, and mostly overweight white male Boomers, a smug collection self-appointed gatekeepers and curators of what THEY considered the be-all end-all of popular music. They basically knighted themselves as "the final word" in Rock.
They've gotten better over time, SLOWLY, in terms of accepting genres/sub-genres that they previously snubbed entirely (metal and prog, mostly), as well as growing the diversity in their voting base beyond the Dave Marsh bloatfests.
Regardless, you either buy into their legitimacy, or you don't. I don't, and never have. I don't celebrate when bands/artists that I love get in. I don't complain when they don't. Although I did go to the 2019 Induction Ceremony, but that's only because my wife's favorite band was being inducted (Def Leppard, don't hate, I know...) Had a great time, but that's because it was a fun night out in Brooklyn. I didn't view it as any kind of coronation or anything.
And yet all these people losing their sh!t. Over nothing. Do they get this pissed over the National Geographic Society?
At least the Grammys, which in a lot of ways are even dopier and more misguided than the HOF, originated from WITHIN the music and recording industry.
