I hope the new songs sound like his 80's and early 90's or 1992 material but probably not.

Wow, first album in 12 years. That's an eternity in the music industry. Will have to check it out.
Would also love to see him on tour.

It’s actually his first album in 21 (!!) years of new material since “Up” in 2002. He did put out a few albums of imho really boring cover songs and re-recordings of his own work about 12 years ago.

I do hope it’s worth the wait for “I/O” which seems like it’s been promised for about half my life (um, well, because it has). The new single was good but didn’t blow my mind.

To be fair, his cover of Listening Wind from Talking Heads was great. That album was a great concept but he couldn’t really get execution from those he covered so it didn’t have the impact that it could have.

I’ll check this out when it comes out, really could go either way as this song isn’t doing it for me.

Personally, I LOVED the New Blood stuff. I saw him on that tour with the full orchestra and it was amazing!
His cover of My Body is a Cage by Arcade Fire is one of my favorite covers ever.

That said, I am looking forward to more original material.

Heroes was a good cover and Book of Love if that was a new song or cover was pretty good too.

The Book of Love is a cover of a Magnetic Fields tune from Volume 1 of their 69 Love Songs collection. A must listen if you ever get a chance.

New track isn’t bad. I don’t care for the intro musical riff, but find the rest good. It reminds me of So and Us era.

New track released. I really dig this one.

Can't believe he still hasn't released the album. What's he waiting for?

"Starting on 6 January 2023, Peter has released a new single every full moon, planning to culminate in the album's release at the end of the year. He has stated that he may keep releasing songs in this format following the album's release."

8 of the 12 songs have been released.

Good album, overall.

I'm not hearing a huge difference between the two mixes.
I would assume if you're putting out two mixes of the same album, they'd be wildly different.

I'd rank this way up there in his discography. Excellent, epic stuff.

Re: Peter Gabriel i/o

Panopticom and I/O are the best songs

I get a little Digging in the Dirt vibes with Panopticom in the beginning.

I hope this is not his final studio album since he takes a long time to produce new material and he is in his mid 70's.
