Best version of the song-Gloria?
I will go with The Shadows of Knight version and I just heard that their lead singer just passed away,
I believe Them(w/Van Morrison) released their version earlier but for some reason The Shadows of Knight seemed better. The Doors did a live version and not sure if they also did a studio version. |

C'mon, it doesn't get any better than Brannigan's impassioned take.

Re: Best version of the song-Gloria?
I really enjoy Tom Petty's take on the song, it's a bootleg from the 97 Fillmore shows and he goes into a great patter about how it's probably not politically correct to ask a woman on the street her name.
The Door's had my favorite version of the song for decades from one of their live Albums. |
Re: Best version of the song-Gloria?
Nothing againt Ms. Brannigan, but Van Morrison and Them lead the way for me.

I listen to the Patti Smith one by far the most (and Redondo Beach off that album is great), but Them/Van Morrison is pretty good too.

There has to be a mashup out there somewhere.
