Clapton's people released a statement about this yesterday. Apparently he wasn't involved and it was his reps and lawyers who handled this. The woman who allegedly committed the piracy dared them to take her to court.

I believe it. Mrs Danger has to do her own IP defense, but Clapton can afford to delegate it.

Of course, Clapton is not out there online looking for bootlegs. They just were surprised by the backlash and wanted to do damage control. Racist comments? No damage control. Anti-vaxx insanity? No damage control, but THIS ...

That's partly why I believe him. He's an unapologetic jerk, but denies having done her wrong.

Pretty much any musician of any stature has a firm hunting down copyright violations of their music across the internet.
