The Killers - Pressure Machine - 8/13/21
The Killers will return next month with a new album. Entitled Pressure Machine, it’s officially due out on August 13th via Island Records. It marks the band’s seventh album to date and arrives exactly a year after the release of Imploding the Mirage.
Because of the pandemic, The Killers were unable to tour behind Imploding the Mirage following its release last August. So, instead, Brandon Flowers and co. headed into the studio to work up on a follow-up record.
Understandably, the resulting LP, Pressure Machine, is heavily influenced by the events of the last 15 months, as “it was the first time in a long time for me that I was faced with silence,” explains Flowers in a statement. “And out of that silence this record began to bloom, full of songs that would have otherwise been too quiet and drowned out by the noise of typical Killers records.”
Press materials for Pressure Machine describe it as “a quieter, character-study-driven album… based on the memories and stories of people” from Flowers’ hometown of Nephi, Utah.
“We were discussing [Brandon] moving to Nephi as a kid and being stuck in the middle of nowhere,” explains drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. “And during COVID-19, it started to feel like we were all in the middle of nowhere.”
Adds Flowers: “I discovered this grief that I hadn’t dealt with, many memories of my time in Nephi are tender. But the ones tied to fear or great sadness were emotionally charged. I’ve got more understanding now than when we started the band, and hopefully I was able to do justice to these stories and these lives in this little town that I grew up in.”
The Killers plan to tour behind both Imploding the Mirage and Pressure Machine starting in 2022. To coincide with today’s album announcement, they’ve revealed dates for a lengthy North American tour running from August to October. Tickets for these dates go on sale Friday, July 23rd at 10:00 a.m. local time.

Fan of the band, but I'm surprised they can still sell arenas.
I wasn't a big fan of Imploding the Mirage, maybe this one will be better.

I thought Imploding The Mirage was great and their best album since Day & Age.

I got an email days ago saying they were going to send me a pre-sale code via another email. The presale went up today and they never sent me a code.
Edit : Nope, not correct. Tickets went on sale at 10 AM. Got the pre-sale email at 11:37 AM.
In any case, I'm going and have good seats on the side risers (the floor is all GA, which my wife totally hates and would never agree to).
We'll be going to GnR at Allegiant the very next day, so that's a busy week.
The Killers are my wife's favorite current band. Since they're local, we must have seen them 5 or 6 times already.

I never got the second email. I got into TM and would’ve been able to get GA ticket for MSG… but nope… no code. No there’s no GA left. I hope they open more up during the general onsale.
Decker GnR is 2021. The Killers dates are for 2022. Over a year away!

Bought a copy of the CD from the band’s website, autographed by Brandon, for $20 shipped. I hope it’s the perfect gift for a true Victim, like my wife.

Her many collaborations lately have been so in my wheelhouse— The Killers, Taylor Swift, Lorde, Sir Paul McCartney — that I was genuinely surprised when she wasn’t featured on the new Aimee Mann album.

Now we've known since their second album that The Killers were heavily influenced by Bruce Springsteen. But there's a difference between inspiration and being a cover band. This album leans heavily on The Boss, to the point that a lot of it doesn't even sound like a Killers album.

Re: The Killers - Pressure Machine - 8/13/21
I've run through it a few times now and I dig it. I still think Imploding The Mirage is their best album in years. I don't like bands that keep putting out the same album over and over, so I like the change in this one. The two of these are a step in the right direction after Battle Born and Wonderful Wonderful which I found pretty forgettable.
I haven't listened to the version with the townspeople interviews. That doesn't really interest me much. Thankfully, there is an abridged version.
Apparently they've already started working on their next album to some degree.

BTW : I love their new single “Boy”. As the name in plays, it’s heavily inspired by U2.
