I know nothing about Urban Dance Squad. Otherwise I would have linked it that way. There's a reason Hart is a one hit wonder. And that song didn't help.

UDS were big for the minute and a half when rock/hip-hop hybrids were popular in the 90s.

AND,
Spoiler:
The Clash (minus Joe Strummer) provided the instrumentation. It's basically a Clash album with Ellen Foley on vocals. She also sang Hitsville UK on The Clash's Sandinista album

And the obvious sequitur for today:

Spoiler:
That's Karla DeVito in the video, but on the original album the part was sung by Ellen Foley. RIP, Robert Paulsen

Songs written by the late great Jim Steinman.
BTW this song is performed by Fire Inc. Doesn't say on the YouTube title.

Songs from filmed rock musicals

I hate to quibble, but I don't know if I'd consider the film of Quadrophenia to be a "rock musical". Only a handful of songs from the original Who album were even in the movie at all, and I don't think Sea and Sand was one of them. I view Quadophenia the record and Quadrophenia the movie as two separate, unconnected entities.

There are probably issues that you'll be able to find with the replacement video, but it's an improvement, yes?

Sigh. Yes, better sequitur, but nowhere near as good a song. I should learn to keep my big mouth shut sometimes.
