Lady Gaga -- Chromatica -- 4/10/20

It looks like a old school video from the 2009 era

She is crazy talented. Her Vegas show just blew me away. Plus she has co-written all her songs which is really impressive in today’s pop. But I didn’t really dig that song. Maybe it will grow on me.
Those costumes were similar to the stuff she wears in the Enigma residency show.

It actually reminds me of an early 2000s video. Looks like something by Aqua.
The song has a late 80s/early 90s vibe to it. I like her music when she's channeling that but it might be a little to old school in 2020.

It reminds me of late 90s/early 2000s pop. Doja Cat's Say So has been played to death lately and also sounds like something that came out in that era.

Might be coming back around.

I believe that was a reference to late 80s/early 90s.

Re: Lady Gaga -- Chromatica -- 4/10/20

Lady Gaga has confirmed the title and release date of her next album: Chromatica is out April 10 (via Interscope). She discussed the record, which follows 2016’s Joanne, in an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1.

Last week, Lady Gaga released her new single “Stupid Love,” which will be included on Chromatica. Discussing the album’s concept with Zane Lowe, Gaga said:

The symbol for Chromatica has a signwave in it, which is the mathematical symbol for sound, and it’s from what all sound is made from, and, for me, sound is what healed me in my life period, and it healed me again making this record, and that is really what Chromatica is all about. It’s about healing and it’s about bravery as well and it’s really like, when we talk about love I think it’s so important to include the fact that it requires a ton of bravery to love someone.

Lady Gaga continued:

BloodPop® [who executive produced Chromatica with Lady Gaga] brought it up, and we talked about how Chromatica was essentially on its own when you first look at it, it seems to be about colors and all the different colors and also music is made of a chromatic scale, you know? So it’s all the colors, all the sounds, you know, so we, we’re talking about inclusivity and life and also a lot of what we see around us and what we’re experiencing is math, which is very much like music and and sound is math as well. So we talked about that, and then I sort of went back and I said, “OK, well, yeah, it’s inclusivity but it's really a way of thinking,” you know, it's not just, “Oh, Chromatica, we’re being inclusive with all the colors, all the people,” and when I say, “All the colors, all the people,” I mean way more than we could possibly fathom.

I think that we’re actually operating on a completely rudimentary level where we square things off into very simplified colors when actually we’re all extremely different in a vast variety of ways that stem from both, like, genetics as well as epigenetics, like, we’re all completely different and I thought OK, well maybe, Chromatica is a frame of mind. And that is my frame of mind, and I don’t know that I’ve ever made an album that wasn’t on Chromatica in some type of way, meaning like my frame of mind is always a part of my music, and this is just my way of kind of expressing, even in a both literal and abstract way, that, like, making music and putting it out into the world is my perspective on life, and it’s also my gift to the world in the best way that I can, and I think that everyone on any given day is doing the absolute best that they can do, and this is my perspective, and here it is, and it’s always been my perspective, but now I know that it was my perspective.

Lady Gaga has kept plenty busy since the release of Joanne; she starred in the Academy Award-nominated film A Star Is Born alongside Bradley Cooper, taking home the Best Original Song Oscar for “Shallow.” The track also earned Gaga 2019 Grammy Awards for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Song Written for Visual Media.

To be honest, I didn't dig that song as well, but it might grow on me. But curious what this album has to offer

That "Say So" is a good song. Is that how early late 90s/early 2000s pop was sounding? I wasn't up on mainstream stuff back then. I just remember Britney, Backstreet Boys, and Christina Aguilera.

To me, Say So sounds like some mid-2000s indie song trying to evoke a faux disco/early 80s vibe. Or maybe I'm splitting hairs.

The Stupid Love song isn't bad at all though. It sounds very uplifting. I can imagine I'd listen to if I was doing aerobics or something similar. It's better than the one song she tried to come back with that had a rave or something in the middle of a desert.

Her new duet with Arianna Grande

Don't know what this thing called rain is since we don't get that in CA.

Re: Lady Gaga -- Chromatica -- 4/10/20

This new song has a very disco vibe to it. I like disco pop but I’ve heard so much of it that hearing Lady Gaga version of doing yet another version of it doesn’t feel too “new.”

Even so, this is a good song and meshes better with her vocal style and image. I thought Art Pop was a solid album. My favorite song was “Fashion!” Which also had a bit of a retro vibe to it. But rest of the album, while good, seemed to be a little all over the place. The TI/Too $hort collab felt our of place, and “Dope” was weird,

But so far I’ve never been disappointed with any of her albums.

Well it's shaping up to be a pretty shitty Summer, so I guess that's appropriate.

I wish I could play that new Gaga and Grande song and it would rain in the Bay Area

Listened to most of the new album as it dropped today. Don't really like it. Lots of Electronica dance music, not my taste. Most is very monotonous and just not very good honestly. I was stoked to see a duet with Elton John, but it's kinda blah.

Ha, I like electronica dance stuff (well some of it), but this album wasn’t bad. Throwback to her first stuff I guess. Sounds spectacular on Tidal.

That’s too bad. Not crazy about song Chromatica, but one with Grande not bad. Haven’t heard rest yet...

Re: Lady Gaga -- Chromatica -- 4/10/20

I skimmed through the album. I'm a little disappointed. I think I only liked a few songs. Besides the two singles, "Babylon," and maybe one other one. Maybe I need to give it a more in-depth listen but it sounds kind of average.

Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande's 'Rain on Me' breaks record with No. 1 debut.

It seems to be doing very well.
