RIP Ranking Roger...

I loved The English Beat back in the day. While he and Dave Wakeling split a long time ago, I was always hoping there would be more of a reunion. I saw them together in the English Beat a few times, then in General Public.

One of my favorite performances...

And I was at this show...

There was a reunion last year, or at least there was supposed to be. I had tickets, they were opening for The Selecter. But The Beat cancelled the gigs, as Roger was too ill.

RIP

Bummer. Tenderness is one of the very best pop songs ever recorded.

General Public's "Never You Done That" is one of my most favorite (Unknown) 80's songs. RIP

Very sad news. I love The English Beat (or The Beat as they were originally called). Probably the best band to come out of the British Ska revival, and Ranking Roger was an integral part of their sound, as well as with General Public.

One of my all time faves:

Re: RIP Ranking Roger...

Hey, let's honor the guy properly and show a song where he sang the lead part:
