Keith Flint frontman for The Prodigy dead at 49

I remember one of their videos "Smack My Bitch Up" was banned from MTV

Keith Flint, the British musician who sang the vocals for The Prodigy's hits such as "Firestarter" and "Breathe," has died aged 49.Flint became one of the best known faces of 1990s British electronic music, performing apparently random dance moves often with eccentric hair cuts.
Police were called to an address in Essex, eastern England, shortly after 8.10am on Monday."We attended and, sadly, a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene," a police spokesman said. "The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner." (Reporting by Guy Faulconbridge; editing by Michael Holden)

TMZ is reporting it was a suicide (per his bandmates).

Always liked The Prodigy, being on the Wipeout XL soundtrack planted them firmly into my childhood.

I love the band. I just got Invaders Must Die and had been spinning it over the last few days and preparing to get tickets for their show. Guess I won't be going now. Genius in the genre for sure.

RIP Keith

I remember him for only two songs but they were 90's icons.

Seems like a lot of musicians have been offing themselves lately.

Chris Cornell, Chester Bennington, AVICII, and now Keith...

Ditto. I skipped out the last time they were here several years ago, and their new tour was the one I was most excited about this year. Firestarter is one of about 5 songs that are wholly associated to a certain period in my life, and immediately floods me with memories, no matter how many times I listen to them. I'm bummed about the death, more bummed that it's from yet another suicide.

I've always just called them "Prodigy".

Since the first album I picked up was Fat of the Land, which only has Prodigy, I did too. Once I dug into their other albums much later, I noticed that they all had The Prodigy on the covers.

Saw them a couple of times in clubs in Chicago when they first came over. Crazy gigs - Keith Flint was a madman live. RIP.

I had planned to see them on this tour. Great band. Invaders Must Die is an amazing record.

I was a college freshman when Fat of the Land came out. One glance at this kook’s nose piercing and I knew this was the next logical leap toward pure shit music. Utterly dreadful amped up crap for people who slam Red Bull to listen to while they jump around their dad’s garage. Their legacy is one billion generic sound beds laid under every extreme sports montage until the end of life on earth. Some achievement.

Sucking this hard should be a crime.

RIP though.

Oh and Smack My Bitch Up is offensive and their attempts to justify or explain it away at the time were pathetic. I recall feeling like they didn’t even have the intellect to comprehend its offensiveness.

Ever since I saw this image, it’s all I can think about every time I think about or hear The Prodigy.
