Man, this one hurts. Always a fan of the band, and they were quite different than their contemporaries. Never political (not that political is bad) or angry, just rock and roll songs about not being able to get the girl. Last time I did Punk Rock Karaoke I sang "Ever Fallen In Love" and got high fives from everyone for being able to hit that long final note.

Whoa. Too young to go. And he was still going out there touring with the band. I was a fan of his when the band first started out in the 70s.

I'll have to spin of the Buzzcock's CDs in his honor. Cool band and songwriter.

First gig I ever went to was the Buzzcocks and Joy Division at King George's Hall in Blackburn, England in 1979 at the grand old age of 13. Me and my friends from school all took the bus down there and back. Great night out. One I won't forget.
Saw the Buzzcocks multiple times since and then again in Chicago last year at the Cobra Lounge. They were still brilliant.
RIP Pete Shelley. You were a big part of my childhood.

Wow. The original Joy Division with Ian Curtis. Nice.

I was never really into them, and then they were playing at a festival here in the OC, and I had made my way to the front row. I was blown away by how good they were.

Maybe the best ear for melody of any of the punk songwriters. This is my favorite:

Was at a record swap today and found an import copy of Love Bites with the "recently deceased" markup to $25, but that's still not a terrible price for an original pressing. That was the one I needed to complete my collection of Buzzcocks vinyl. Still, it's bittersweet..

Re: Pete Shelley (Buzzcocks) dead at 63

So, the "Buzzcocks" are coming to town in May.

Not sure how I feel about that. I mean, I know it will be more of a tribute to Pete and not a plan to carry on without him, but it still just doesn't seem right. I wish they called it "A tribute to Pete Shelley featuring members of The Buzzcocks" rather than calling it a Buzzcocks show.

Also doesn't help that Adam Ant and Stiff Little Fingers are doing shows that week too (separately, not on the same bill), and it could get expensive seeing that many geezer punk shows in one week....
