Considering he'll be 70 in 5 months, that's pretty decent.

Re: New Steve Perry!
This was taken two years ago in Los Angeles while we were on vacation. Staying across the freeway from Universal Studios in an Air BnB, there were lots of small recording studios down the street as well as a local diner where we ate breakfast one morning. That's when a very familiar looking guy wandered in right off the street. He was there with Randy Jackson as well as the other two gents at their table. I wonder now if this was related to the new album??? And no, I didn't go up to him. Waitress said he came in their often and was pretty low key and very nice.

Sneakily taking pictures of people as they're trying to eat is pretty gross.

I used to be a huge Journey/Steve Perry fan back in the day. I've bailed on classic rock for a long time now though.
Perry's voice sounds decent - especially for being 70 and not doing much the last 20+ years.
The song though is pretty bland, and the lyrics are pretty bad.
He's had a lot of time to create material that's better than that song. Maybe the other tracks will be much better?

For those interested, the Target version has 5 bonus songs, which is 50% more album since the standard version only has 10 tracks.

"Sun Shines Gray" is probably the most tolerable song

IMO, in his heyday, SP may have very well been the most technically gifted male vocalist in R&R history. That was a long time ago.

@sportsfan64 - Thanks for posting that interview. I wasn't aware of that backstory and recent history. Gives his new album some more perspective.

Why do guys like this even bother with new material? If he wants to tour, just go out and play old Journey songs, Oh Sherrie, and a cover song from his formative years. Apart from one, maybe two songs from the new record, that's what he's going to play anyhow.

That said, I can't recommend the whole album. There are only 5 or so songs that hold up to the level of his first two solo albums.

Oddly, even though there are some negative reviews on here - the vast majority of reviews I've come across online have been very positive.
