Re: Your misheard lyrics

Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma chameleon
You come and go, you come and go
Loving would be easy if your colors were like my dreams
Red, gold, and green, red, gold, and green

I always heard it as

Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma chameleon
You come and go, you come and go
Loving would be easy if your coming to like my dreams
That golden dream, that golden dream

Peter Gabriel - Games Without Frontiers

For years I thought Kate Bush was singing: "She's so popular."

When it's actually "Jeux sans frontiere."
I thought it was She's So Popular

"Baby but I are, I'm a star"

This line always threw me off and sounded like gibberish

Mask you made = mess you made.

I still pretend it's mask.

Re: Your misheard lyrics

Just heard one on the radio that made me chuckle about what I thought it originally was. The End of the Line, by the Traveling Wilburys.

Well it's all right
If ya got somewhere to lay

First time I thought it was "If ya got someONE to lay".

And for TV themes, Family Guy:

Lucky there's a man who
positively can do
all the things that make us
F'n cry

(considering who speaks that line, it's not out of the question)

LOL. For me, it was "She's so far below."

Not a misheard lyric, but just now discovered that whom I thought was Cher singing 'Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast' (1972) is actually Wayne Newton ...

Watched Grease earlier.
As a kid, “You’re the one that I want” was always “THE ONE IN A BOAT!” to me.

That was actually a big controversy surrounding the show, and there's actually episodes (a whole season maybe) where Stewie says LAUGH very distinctly. At the time Seth always maintained he said "laugh" but the accent made it sound different. They ended up going back to the original version. I believe there's an episode that addresses this very thing.

Heard 'Authority Song' by John Cougar today which reminded me I used to think
"Growin' up leads to growin' old
and then to dyin'"

went "growin' old and then to DIANE"

I thought it was some tricky call out to 'Jack and Diane' and that he was saying Diane really wasn't all that ...

Re: Your misheard lyrics

Another one I just thought of is Dire Straits:

"Money for nothing and checks for free"

I thought it was an intentional redundancy, you know, like George Thorogood : "I drink alone. With nobody else. And you know when I drink alone, I prefer to be by myself"
