I heard this remaster of Kick is horribly loud btw, so I'm passing.
If it's loud with forsaking quality, then yeah...it's going to be very unfortunate to say the least. There was one review on Amazon that was mostly glowing, said the sound was excellent and the Blu-Ray was tremendous. Bad part, the videos on the disc have had the video music switched with the re-mastered music. Glad I am keeping my dvd collection of their videos (https://www.amazon.com/Im-Only-Looki...dp/B000286SCE/)(not that I was getting rid of it, but glad I have a reference).

My copy is in Transit as of the 23rd, slowwwww shipping...thank you DHL.

11/29 EDIT: Out for delivery today, whoopee de whoop!

Re: INXS - Kick (30th Deluxe Edition, 3CD's/1 Blu-Ray)

Well, I gave it a 20-30 minute spin last night...

Pros
  • Sound is excellent, the Blu-Ray kicks some serious ass in a good setup.
  • The album itself also sounds really good. It is louder as mentioned, but I did not notice a drop in quality yet (I probably don't have the ear some of you do though so tread lightly). I might need to listen to the original album though to make a full comparison.
  • I do like the packaging. I should have took pictures, but it feels like a DVD Television boxset. 4 discs, it's cardboard with plastic on top and two discs overlap each other on each side. I re-did the right side as I'll use the blu-ray a lot more than the second cd of mixes.
  • The booklet is nice, has some good information. It's a good fluff piece to look through once or twice.

Cons
  • Videos are easily the biggest downfall. The quality isn't noticeably improved and they used the remixed sound which means videos like Mediate are completely out of rhythm. It's ok for nostalgia, but you'll need to find one of their DVD collections (and the good one is OOP) to get an accurate feel.
  • Some purists will probably hate that they have to put this with their dvds. They might want to put it with their blu-rays or even regular cds I suppose. I don't mind too much, I made a little spot and put it right by my DVD video collection (even though I'm supposed to be getting rid of my dvds).

All in all, pretty excellent. A quick rating out of the gate....8.5 out of 10.
