Re: Chris Cornell dead at 52

It was the lead story on the news on Fox2 Detroit at 430am this morning.

Soundgarden possibly in my top ten bands of all time.

I would call them borderline RocknRoll HOFers.

Wow. And I was just singing "Hunger Strike" to myself when I was making a midnight snack earlier.
RIP

Re: Chris Cornell dead at 52

WTF???

I did not expect this at all. Layne Staley, Kurt Cobain, Scott Weiland - I think most of us saw those coming (at least as possibilities), but Chris Cornell? No way.

I'm stunned. I really can't believe it.

And he really was a great singer. I'm not the biggest Soundgarden or Audioslave fan (I like some songs from both bands, but dislike just as many), but I had (and still have) a ton of respect for Cornell. I was actually interested to hear what Audioslave could do as far as new material a decade removed from when they were active.

He will be missed for sure.

I was at the Soundgarden concert in Detroit last night. I'm in shock waking up to this. R.I.P.

That is wild.

WTF happened. He didn't have any current substance issues? I'll be honest, lately, he has looked a little too thin and frail... maybe he was sick.

I was lucky to have seen Cornell solo and then when Soundgarden got back together in 2011. I was really looking forward to the likely possibility of an Audioslave tour.

Damn, this sucks.

One news outlet is reporting possible suicide.

http://www.wxyz.com/news/region/detr...-52-in-detroit

I find that hard to believe, but who knows?

I watched some clips from last nights show at the bottom of that story, and he looked really disinterested - as if he didn't want to be there. Was that his usual performing style, or was that out of the oridinary? (I'm used to musicians having more enthusiasm and looking like they're actually enjoying playing on stage...)

Was shocked to hear the news on my drive in to work this morning.

One of my favourite singers of all-time.

RIP Chris

That seems more likely to me than an OD. But it is still very shocking and strange.

Wow totally unexpected news. I liked some of Soundgarden's work but wasn't a diehard fan. I really like Temple of the Dog though and he was a good singer. RIP.

Damn, what a shock. I was never much into Soundgarden, but I loved Chris's solo work. He had such a unique vocal and range.

I'm also in shock that Sammy Hagar is approaching 70. Life is going by too freaking fast.

I didn't watch those clips but he was engaging the audience, smiling, etc. Sure didn't seem like he on drugs or depressed. We'll probably never know.

Most depressed and suicidal people don't really let on until doors are closed, so that wouldn't be the biggest shock.

Yeah, for sure. It was just a far cry from the last time I saw Stone Temple Pilots. Scott was a zombie.

Re: Chris Cornell dead at 52

Damn. I have been listening to some Soundgarden live shit in my car all week.

Eddie Vedder is the only one of the major players from that scene and era left.

Sucks.
One of the best rock singers/screamers of all time.
Was he dealing with depression?

Ugh.

'Badmotorfinger' is currently testing the limits of my desktop's speakers.

I might have to purchase new ones before the day is out.

Wow, shocking and sad news. I really liked Soundgarden and some of his solo stuff. His Bond song kicked ass.

Damn, sad and shocking news. I was never a big Soundgarden fan, but I recognized the guy's talent. His Audioslave and solo material was underrated.

Way too young.

Re: Chris Cornell dead at 52

Shitty news to wake up to.

Saw him live once here at The Wiltern after Audioslave broke up and way before Soundgarden reunited. I also saw Audioslave 2-3 times in concert. Shit, never did get to see Soundgarden live either.
