My favourite OMD song, "Heaven Is", from my favourite OMD album, 1993's Liberator, which I listened to for the first time recently and found absolutely astounding. Bar none one of the most exhilarating albums I have ever heard, though I understand many critics and fans find it too poppy. I thought it contained one exemplary song after another (with the exception of "Everyday" and "Agnus Dei"). Heaven Is, Only Tears, Dollar Girl, Christine, etc., etc.

I love finding something new that I instantly love. Today was the first time I saw/heard this performance. A slow intro, and then it just takes off. Great camera work, too.

Funny.... it came out during a time when I was working on a short story, and the music/lyrics of this tune would;ve fit perfectly with the end credits sequence of how I envisioned the story to end... assuming it ever got made into a movie, that is. :) |

My favorite OMD is the Moby remix of "Souvenir".
I really like the original version too, but the added keyboards in the remix are a stroke of genius.

Two dazzling songs by Chris de Burgh. The heartrending "In the Ghetto" and the majestic "The Hands of Man", which starts slowly but has three increasingly insistent verse starts at 2:00, 3:10, and 4:00. No official video for either.

Two more OMD songs I really dig. "Secret" from 1985's Crush (I love the 4-chord synth beat that runs through the song), and "One More Time" from last year's The Punishment of Luxury (the only outstanding song off that album, I think):

Didn't really care for this song when I first heard it, but in typical Beach House fashion, it has started to grow on me.
