Morning commute:
Funkadelic: Bop Gun - lysergic funk classic
Beach Slang: Bad Art & Weirdo Ideas - retro dreamrock pop punk
Jimi Hendrix: Up from the Skies - wah-wah workout
Simple Minds: All the Things She Said - a particular favorite from my childhood, I really like the chorus on this song
INXS: Don't Change - a classic new wave track off of INXS's first album.
Short story regarding the last song, "Don't Change": in the very early eighties (probably late 1981, when I was 8) a friend of mine was the first to get MTV. This must have been just as it launched. I remember seeing the video for this song on his TV in the basement, it was one of the first music videos I've ever seen. The new wave keyboard line in particular stuck in my head.
Fast forward 13 years. In 1994, INXS released their greatest hits. I didn't really like the band, but remembered that I really this song. I couldn't remember the name of the song and I bought the Greatest Hits comp on CD just to hear this song again. Remember, this was pre-internet so if you couldn't remember a somewhat obscure, 14 year old Australian song's name, you were pretty much screwed. Inexplicably, "Don't Change" is not on their greatest hits comp (to this day, this annoys me). I forgot about it again.
Fast forward to about five years ago. I was watching "Adventureland" a movie with a good soundtrack (I think created by Yo La Tengo). The closing credits start: holy shit, it's that INXS song!
I immediately flashed back to my friend's basement circa 1981. All of the other crap I liked from that time flooded my mind: the Milton Bradley Starbird, the Apple 2, Carrera slot car sets, Mattel Electronic Football, Big Trax, that crazy vacuum-powered Micronauts set, Stretch Armstrong, Kenner Star Wars vehicles, "Big Green Machine" arm-powered Big Wheels etc (my parents were pretty awesome). I hadn't heard "Don't Change" in almost 30 years. I still liked it. Now I listen to it frequently.

Cool story...I can certainly relate to the Kenner Star Wars toys, had a Big Trax, and definitely remember the Apple II and Stretch Armstrong even though I never had either. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
