Re: Meg Myers

Meg looks like a poor man's Yolandi from Die Antwoord if that is even possible.

Song is terrible. I will stick with her first two CDs and first EP. Wasn't a big fan of her last two albums and it appears the decline in quality with those wasn't just in my head.

I totally forgot about that "Graduation" song. For fuck's sake it is awful. Hated it then, hate it even more now.

Not sure if you listened to the first song I posted, but check it out if you didn't. If you hated Graduation before, you'll hate it even more knowing she was once capable of rocking out pretty well.

Yeah, I listened to it as well. Almost a different person, voice and face-wise (without all the make-up). Wonder whatever happened to her...

She's been music executive for Nickelodeon for years.

And married to the guitarist in the first video I posted. Note to aspiring musicians on choosing an instrument: The guitarist always gets the girl.

Meg wants to get in on the Stranger Things buzz. Too bad she looks like a subject in Hawkins Lab now.

Looks like that girl is going through some things.

I actually quite liked Children of Light II. Nice big song. The first track was okay, nothing special.

Sorry, but as much of a fan I am of her early stuff, this pivot to basically looking like the chick from Die Antwood is not for me.

I'm not really into the new persona too much, but I'll check out a show since its pretty close to me,

Re: Meg Myers

Interesting that the Birmingham, AL show is not on the list above. There is a show announced for May 10th but it is at a really shitty small club called Zydeco that should have been torn down at least 20 years ago. I was kinda stunned that she is even playing there. It is your typical $15 buck (at most) cover charge bar that usually just has small names and crappy cover bands.

As a person who totally devoured and adored Sorry, Daughter & the Shadow EP, I just don't think I want to go and have to hear the majority of the convert be her output from the last 5 years. I would have killed to see her around or before her "Sorry" release, but I have since lost interest. Shame.

A lot of those venues are super small. This will be the 4th time I've seen her since 2015 and it will be the smallest venue.

Seems she is heading backwards. What were your thoughts of the last show you saw her at? Worth seeing? How much from her first three releases did she play?

I know I saw a short live video of her one time and she just "Yoko Ono'ed" (screamed) her way through a couple of songs and I definitely have no interest in hearing or seeing that.

Haven't seen her since 2019, so the times I did was in support of Sorry and Take Me To The Disco. Those were worth seeing. This new stuff... I don't know. I'll go to the show because it's pretty local, but I probably wouldn't make the trip if I had to go into a major city to do so. Looking at some setlists from last year when she opened for Smashing Pumpkins and Jane's Addiction, there were still some older songs worked in.

Re: Meg Myers

I've never seen her, but I'm going because it's in a safe area that is very LGBT friendly and it's relatively inexpensive. The last time she was here was a club in Detroit that I'm not familiar with and I wasn't sure if it was safe.

The L.A. show also isn't listed but will be at The Regent. The Regent is tiny.

Yes it is listed. It's just not showing on that image unless you click it, then it's at the bottom.
No Vegas show. Not sure I'd go since I so dislike the turn in music she has made these past two albums (of what I've heard).

Re: Meg Myers

Apparently, it's not Meg, it's me.

Really important message.. Guys, there is no “old Meg” or “new Meg” because I haven’t changed, I’ve always been me and I always will be. I’m just expressing myself in different ways than I used to. It’s called evolution. The stuff I created in the past is how I expressed myself back then, and the stuff I’m creating now is how I’m expressing myself right now. If I repressed my feelings and didn’t allow myself to freely create then it wouldn’t be authentic. I would just be regurgitating the same thing over and over in order to be accepted by society.
Also, creating is literal THERAPY for me. I wouldn’t be alive without it. And so to expect someone who is on a journey of healing trauma THROUGH their CREATIVITY to not grow is fucking whack yo.
As for the way I look, I AM MY ART. Why would I stifle my creativity through the way I dress or the way I wear my hair in order to please you?
I’m incredibly thankful for my entire journey, because again.. it’s ALL ME and it always will be. If you prefer to listen to my older stuff because that’s what resonates for you, I think that’s AMAZING.. that’s why I created it. I was in my 20’s then and I’m in my 30’s now and I don’t know how I’m going to express myself in my 40’s, 50’s, 60’s etc.. I live moment to moment right here RIGHT NOW and I trust that whatever wants to be birthed through me will be when it’s meant to.
So, I’m not asking you to like everything I do..
I’m just saying chill the fuck out and let’s allow each other to grow and expand in our own ways.
Love + light

There was a video with that post too. She seemed manic.

I wonder how these VIP upgrades will go...

Yeah I saw it on Facebook, but it's not on Twitter or You Tube as far as I could see and I couldn't figure how to repost it here.

So obviously there must be a lot of people making noise and it isn't just old farts like us here.

I don't care if she "creating literal therapy" in a new way that pleases her. I just won't support it with my money if I don't like it. I would like her to "grow" and maybe stop using phrases like "fucking whack yo"...but that is probably just the old fart in me.

Sounds like this upcoming concert is a skip to me.

Thanks for the post, Decker. Helped me make up my mind for certain.

Re: Meg Myers

So I take it she's either in a "cry for help" phase, or a "St. Anger" phase?

Might need to do a little research on her recent output.

Re: Meg Myers

I saw her last night. Took my daughter. Club was tiny, capacity 200. It wasn't sold out. She played a 19 song set, but only 2 songs from Sorry (Sorry and Desire), 2 Songs from Disco (Constant and Numb), Running up that Hill, Monster (from Daughter in the Choir) and 13 songs from TZIA (including Linkin Park's Numb) only one of which I had listened to before yesterday.

Still despite all that, I enjoyed it, and am gad that I went. Also it was by far the cheapest concert that I have been to in a long time ($25 tickets before fees). She was the only person on stage and played a lot of different instruments. She's very talented. It's a shame that she never caught on.

I posted a pic in the concert thread, but here's a short video I took from Desire.
