Wouldn't surprise me in the least if the upcoming tour with Roth was cut short or cancelled before it even started. Unless thing change, they are supposed to kick it off in this area in a couple weeks.

Like the addition of the deeper album cuts. Too bad this wasn't the set list back when they were still worth seeing live.

Am amazed they've never played Drop Dead Legs live before. Agree, that's a great setlist.

Re: Van Halen’s Definitive Live Album & Remasters.

Great setlist. But I've had my fill of this band. I saw Van Halen in 1984, Van Hagar in 1988, and Van Halen in 2008. That pretty much ranks in order of how I liked this band. I loathed Van Hagar (I like Sammy solo & Montrose, while Chickenfoot is Chickenshit) but they were much tighter, by FAR, than VH '08. An absolute abortion.

78-84 Van Halen leaves them all in the dust, of course...

I saw Van Halen in 1985 (on the 1984 tour) and in whatever year they did Monsters of Rock as Van Hagar (total crap) .. I saw Dave solo on the Eat 'Em And Smile Tour (awesome) and the Filthy Little Mouth Tour (solid)

Going to go see them this year, I liked A Different Kind of Truth, good album.

Dave's "Eat Em And Smile" (both the album and tour) wiped the floor with 5150. Watching Steve Vai and Billy Sheehan duel each other with their solos was freakin' mindblowing.

Saw that show two nights in a row back in November 1986. Good times

Re: Van Halen’s Definitive Live Album & Remasters.

It's amazing how this has all become a competition now. I grew up loving Van Halen from a kid. 1984 (the LP) was an awesome experience for me. I then bought all the rest from the debut through Diver Down.
I was mad when Roth left and did his EP but liked it. Then when Eat and Em and Smile came out I was still happy because he was making great music with great musicians. Loved the shit out of that album. All was forgiven.
Next came 5150, and was again blown away. The Van Halen brothers seemed happy to be rid of Roth and all was good.
OU812 was good too and Skyscraper had its (few) moments, then it seems like things kinda got lost.
Diamond Dave was done, Eddie decided he wanted to do pop music other than a few hits and misses on F.U.C.K. and the rest is history.
IMO, David Lee Roth is a shell of what he was. Eddie is just trying to still make music but pisses off everyone around him and Sammy and Michael Anthony are just trying to do what they love without all the drama. My favorite band turned in to a big bad soap opera that should have just been cancelled.

When Van Halen agrees to perform all of "Fair Warning" in a small club, I will go to that show.

I guess it got lost in translation. I liked F.U.C.K., it was probably the heaviest of the Hagar albums, Balance which basically came right after was Van Halen lite. My bad for not translating what I was trying to say.
