Phew. Got Orch seats on Fri. I'm sure there will be some good merch there, exclusive or otherwise. I know I'll be buying a poster at the least, maybe a shirt.

Sacred Bones has pre-orders up for new re-recordings of some classic John Carpenter themes, as redone by the man himself along with his current backing band.
There are three variant options, along with some nifty t-shirts, too. I went for both limited edition mystery variants, came to $45 shipped.

Oh, man, that show last night was positively transcendent.
JC looked so damn happy, it was infectious. He ripped through classic themes and new cuts, with a video screen showing film clips during his title tracks. Such an intimate setting, filled with family, friends and hardcore fans.
As for the merch, he had four shirts, LT II, the two new re-recorded singles on vinyl, a They Live sticker set, two different pin sets and They Live sunglasses. All reasonably priced.
It's gonna be great seeing him again in less than a month!

It's on tonight!
Doors open at 8pm and the show starts at 9:30pm. I guess they want folks nicely sauced in their seats, because there is no opening act, which is fine by me.
See ya there!

This was just as amazing the second time around. Production was a bit tighter than last month's warmup show. Same set list.
Glad to see lots of additional merch. I grabbed a poster this time.
I will see JC play every single time he does a show in LA. Simply magical.

I saw this on bloody disgusting's facebook page, I think this would be an awesome album to buy. John Carpenter is releasing a greatest hits of his movie scores. I might have to check this out.

Coming in October, John Carpenter Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998 brings together 13 classic themes from Carpenter’s illustrious career together on one volume for the first time. Each theme has been newly recorded with the same collaborators that Carpenter worked with on his hit Lost Themes studio albums: his son, Cody Carpenter, and godson, Daniel Davies.
“Anthology is a near-comprehensive survey of John Carpenter’s greatest themes, from his very first movie, the no-budget sci-fi film Dark Star, to 1998’s supernatural Western, Vampires. Those sit alongside the driving, Led Zeppelin-influenced Assault on Precinct 13 theme, Halloween’s iconic 5/4 piano riff, and the eerie synth work of The Fog. Carpenter and his band also cover Ennio Morricone’s bleak, minimalist theme for The Thing.”
“We also get vital new recordings of the themes to ’80s classics and fan favorites Big Trouble in Little China, Escape From New York, Christine, and They Live, along with the romantic Starman. The collection is rounded out by the menacing, heavy themes to Prince of Darkness and In the Mouth of Madness, the latter a Metallica-inspired riff originally played for the film by Kinks guitarist Dave Davies, and now played by his son Daniel.”
Here’s the full track list:
1. “In the Mouth of Madness”
2. “Assault on Precinct 13”
3. “The Fog”
4. “Prince of Darkness”
5. “Santiago (Vampires)”
6. “Escape From New York”
7. “Halloween”
8. “Porkchop Express (Big Trouble in Little China)”
9. “They Live”
10. “The Thing”
11. “Starman”
12. “Dark Star”
13. “Christine”
Pre-order your copy today from Sacred Bones Records on Standard LP, Limited Edition LP, Deluxe Limited Edition LP, or CD, and expect it October 20!

Yup, I pre-ordered the "Anti-God edition -- $55 plus shipping for the orange Halloween =7inch vinyl was too rich for my blood. He's playing at the Palladium on Halloween night.
This album is 13 re-recorded songs by him and his band that was on tour with him that include his son and godson.

Ordered the deluxe edition. Can't help myself when it comes to Carpenter, plus that 7" seemed essential.
I'll prob go to the show at the Grove since it's closer to me.

Grabbed some Tier 1 floor seats at the Grove. For anyone who doesn't want to deal with Hollywood on Halloween night, the Grove is a great alternative because it's a nice, new venue with great views and plenty of standing room.

For those who missed out on the deluxe:
https://www.amoeba.com/anthology-mov...lbums/3975095/
Amoeba is selling this for $26.99 on "Fog Color Vinyl" and it includes a bonus 7". So it sounds like all that's missing from the Sacred Bones deluxe edition is the art prints.
