What a boring list. They *really* want Joan Jett & The Blackhearts in there, although quite frankly why? One huge hit (a cover), a smaller hit (a cover), and that's about it. It's not like their work was massively acclaimed.
Smiths, SRV, Green Day, NWA, Sting, Kraftwerk all deserve inclusion. Reed is a *LOCK*. |

Mine would be: War, Reed, Smiths.
I do like: Spinners, NIN, Chic, N.W.A., Joan and SRV but enough. Kraftwerk is weird as I had friends that really liked them but I just did not get it back then. Maybe they are bigger than I really know. Green Day will probably go in but not my thing. |

Don't forget Motorhead. You'd think they'd want to do it while Lemmy is still alive, because boy what an induction speech that would be.
Also, someone made a good point on YouTube: Suzi Quatro. She was a primary influence on Joan, after all, and is still going strong in Europe, where they don't trash an artist after 5 years because they are old hat. |

Thin Lizzy needs to be there a dozen times over Joan Jett or Sting, but I'm not making a federal case out of anything. The RRHoF is fundamentally meaningless and has no authority over music whatsoever, unless you're a Jan Wenner or an member of his arrogant, overweight inner circle-jerk.

You have got to be kidding me. No Deep Purple? Not even nominated?
Pathetic. Here's my nominee list... Deep Purple Iron Maiden SRV Thin Lizzy UFO The Cure (hate 'em, but they deserve to be in) The Smiths (see above) |

 I was wondering what you were going to complain about this year!

Re: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2015 Nominees (Smiths, L. Reed, Kraftwerk, NIN, Green
I do have to say, I must have missed the huge influence of Thin Lizzy completely. I certainly knew they did "The Boys are Back in Town" and think it's a great song, but I figured there must be more stuff from them since a one-hit wonder wouldn't get people this upset. Checking their albums and songs online, I might have heard "Jailbreak" once and I do recognize "Dancing in the Moonlight", but that's about it. Were they a big thing in the 70s because I sure don't remember it.

Just put Chic in already. I'm fucking tired of seeing them listed every year.

I'd check out the albums "Black Rose" and "Vagabonds of the Western World" for two distinct (but quite awesome) eras of the band. And the "Jailbreak" album alone is IMO a 70s rock classic from start to finish. As far as influence, they pioneered the twin-lead-guitar sound that was emulated by many in the hard rock/metal scene. |

Beside the obvious like Deep Purple, The Damned, Cheap Trick, Steppenwolf, ELP, Jethro Tull and Uriah Heep, I think it is time for The New York Dolls to get in.
