RIP Pete Seeger.

he lived a hell of a 94 years. He played shows and recorded music with Woody Guthrie in 1940. And he passed away just today. That blows my mind. RIP.

Your post was the last thing I saw before I went to bed. Clicked the link, read the article, went to bed, forgot to comment here. He had quite the run and seemed like a genuinely kind soul. Most recently, I've enjoyed his little friendship with Stephen Colbert and performances on his show and I'll be interested to see what sort of tribute / acknowledgement Stephen does on his show this week.

A true American through and through; what all Americans should aspire to.
Read this transcript from him being questioned by HUAC and defiantly refusing to give them any sort of satisfactory answers to their bullshit questions.
"I am sorry you are not interested in the song. It is a good song."

Re: RIP Pete Seeger.
I thought I posted in this thread last night but maybe it didn't stick. Thanks for breaking the news to me, chadm.
I've seen Pete Seeger in concert many times, usually with Arlo Guthrie (their Precious Friend album captures them pretty well), and I knew this day was coming. Fortunately it took longer than I expected, but I'm still saddened. In addition to all the things that he's being rightly recognized for, I hope more people learn about his compositions, and how he, not the Byrds, wrote Turn Turn Turn. I also saw Wasn't That a Time! in theaters, though at the time I wasn't familiar with The Weavers.
I hope kids these days are still listening to Abiyoyo.

Re: RIP Pete Seeger.
I don't know if you're serious or not but BOB Seger did "Turn The Page", not Pete Seeger the man who died.
Anyway, RIP Pete. I'll always remember you as the guy who tried to cut Bob Dylan's set list short at the Newport Folk Festival, literally, with an ax.
