Pah. Too goofy / novelty. Taxman is where it's at... check out that guitar solo!

Doesn't everyone think the Sgt Pepper Reprise is a much better track than the opening number? I always did.

BTW : We need a Closing Track poll. I'd love to see who'd win that since "A Day In The Life" is so iconic (but I'd still vote for the mind-blowing "Tomorrow Never Knows')

The first chord in Hard Day's Night gets my vote as well. Other songs on the list are better, but damn!

Back in the USSR but I couldn't argue with half of the options being the best. It's the jet coming in for the landing that gives USSR the edge for me; Awesome way to announce that a bad ass album is here.

It Won't Be Long. I mean, they broke up like 7 years later. It's almost chilling in its prophetic nature.

A Day in the Life, Tomorrow Never Knows or Her Majesty. It would be an interesting poll.

I'm not surprised to see these votes spread out the way they are. The Beatles wrote so many great songs.

Paul was always a more melodic and versatile soloist than George.

My favorite part of that song is how it fades into Dear Prudence, but yeah the whole song is awesome.

Come Together, though Back in the USSR is a close second.

With that one chord alone, A Hard Day's Night gets my vote.

Two of Us is my favorite songs amongst those, but not as strong as an opener. I've Just Seen a Face is another favorite, but I don't recall that opening an album.

The Capitol version of RUBBER SOUL. Killer opener to a great album.

Re: Best BEATLES Album Opener (UK & US albums)

A lot of great choices, but I have to go with "A Hard Day's Night" mainly because of that amazing iconic chord.

(BTW, in a 2011 reunion concert, here's Guadalcanal Diary playing the Hard Day's Night chord to open their show. Nothing else that night put a bigger smile on my face.)

Boy, tough choice between "I Saw Her Standing There" and "Help". Went with "Help".

Re: Best BEATLES Album Opener (UK & US albums)

I can name that song in 1 note: "A Hard Day's Night"

There's go getting over that opening chord which sets the tone for what's to follow. Superb!

Many others are great openers but just don't have the oomph or instant recognition of that single chord.
