Re: MICHAEL JACKSON - Unofficial Discussion Thread
Has anybody heard this "new" album being put out? I've seen quite a few favorable reviews from music critics. Only 8 tracks but I'm sure they're saving more.
Curious to see what regular people think of it.

I've listened to it a couple of times. It's really not too bad. A definite improvement over the previous posthumous album.
I know there are some fanatics who will tell you that everything Michael himself released was gold, but I don't think he ever put out a perfect album. There were always tracks that I thought were sub-par or downright awful on his albums.
I'll probably be crucified by MJ fans, but I also think that Thriller is an incredibly overrated album with some boring-ass songs peppered throughout the album so that it's impossible to just listen to the entire thing without having to skip multiple songs. Dangerous is the only album of his that I can listen through almost from start to finish.
That said, I think that, while none of the songs on Xscape hit me as legitimate #1 singles, every song on the new album, IMHO, is better than something that made it onto one of Michael's own albums.

I listened to some samples of Xscape on Amazon. The opening track is really good. Sounds like something from the Off The Wall era. I might get the album because his previous posthumous album wasn't that great. I agree that Thriller, while having some excellent singles, as an album is really uneven. Off The Wall is the better album, but Thriller has greater singles.

I want a MJ, Tupac and Johnny Cash super group album. Perhaps Jimi Hendrix could play guitar.

After listening to it a few times I'm pretty happy with it (all versions)
I can hear a few different decades in there and I like that.
I would have liked more tracks but we all know Sony is going to milk this for eternity.

Of course, it's the 19th track with Timberlake that will really blow the thing up.

As long as they dont get crazy with the collaborations. I want a Michael Jackson album, not a "Feat." album.
