Debut and Post are both great, but Homogenic took Bjork's art to another level. OK Computer is, imo, the weak link in between two much better albums (The Bends and Kid A).

I liked Pablo Honey and absolutely love The Bends, but I've never understand the praise for OK Computer or Kid A. I'm pretty sure I never bothered listening to another Radiohead album after trying a couple times to get into those.

I loved "Creep" and a few other tracks from Pablo Honey, but with each progressive album they seemed to go further and further from my personal taste. I like Kid A was the last one I sampled and I just didn't get the appeal at all. I know 'Idioteque' is loved by critics but I find it borderline unlistenable

Really? Going down the 'oh it's so cool' to like them route?
This forum is filled with threads and posts of pretentious people so proud that they just saw live 3 bands or artists that no one has ever heard of(which of course makes them automatically awesome). Where it's only cool to like OLD music or new super obscure hipster shit.
Personally i have actually loved Radiohead since 1995, i love every album for different reasons. I got hooked with OK Computer (still is one of my fav albums of all time)
As a rock fan yes of course i much prefer the rockier stuff of the 90's over the 'weirder' recent stuff but i really enjoy Thom's voice and always have so to me that's a big draw.
But of course there is no such thing as a bad opinion, and even those 'pretentious' people i talked about before are still allowed to enjoy their obscure music, i just found it funny coming from this forum where i notice alot of what i just mentioned :P

Re: Seriously, why do people like Radiohead?
I like Radiohead. I recognize their brilliance but would not name them among my favorite artists. OK Computer and Kid A are billiant. One thing has never changed: I hated Creep the first time I heard it in 1995 and I still hate it today. Awful song. I can't believe they catapulted to fame with that thing. It annoys me that radio still spins it all the time in regular rotation but won't play anything else from the same era or newer stuff.

I like Radiohead. In my gut. I just like it. Their music puts me in a trance and I like to think about stories to go with the music.
I listen to Kid A and everything. I got my Radiohead, Modest Mouse, Weezer (the first three albums), and some others. That stuff never gets old for me.
And I still don't know half the lyrics. Sing clearly, motherfucker.

I didn't really think they were anything special when Pablo Honey came out. However, Ok Computer and Kid A changed my opinion. When the re-issues came out, I bought all of them while BMG was going under and I'm glad I did. They aren't a band I listen to frequently, but when I get in the mood for them, the music is really satisfying.

I bought into Radiohead way back when they first came out with Creep in the 90s, and got Pablo Honey. It was ok, nothing that great. Bends came out - really enjoyed that one. Now I considered myself a huge Radiohead fan. OK Computer next, still my absolute favorite album from them, and what vaulted them into being my "favorite band" when people would ask me at the time.
Then Kid A comes out, and I wanted soooo much to get into it, it's my favorite band after all. And I just couldn't. Ok, 1 dud album (to me at least) that's ok, then Amnesiac - same thing, I'm thinking, what happened, it just seems like.... noise. So after that I pretty much gave up on them and pretended they broke up after OK Computer. I never even listened to In Rainbows, though a lot of people on here seem to like it, so maybe I'll have to give it a listen.

My favorite band in the world.
My father was also a fan, and Radiohead was the last band we ever saw live together, so they'll always hold a very special place in my heart. The king of limbs did nothing for me though, although Lotus Flower was a great song.
This performace is worth checking out:

Re: Seriously, why do people like Radiohead?
I'd say I love them, but I'd obviously only be pretending because I want to be one of the cool kids (which also explains why I spend most of my time listening to classical and Broadway music.)
In greater seriousness, I don't love everything Radiohead has done, but I do think they're pretty great. OK Computer and Kid A are my two absolute favorites, and I listen to them on a regular basis (though, oddly, if I'm in the mood to listen to one I'm usually not in the mood to listen to the other.) I also love Hail to the Thief and In Rainbows. I was never able to get into The Bends, and Amnesiac and The King of Limbs are pretty hit-and-miss for me.
I don't think I've even listened to Pablo Honey all the way through.
As for why I like them - to go along with what troystiffler said, it mostly just connects with me on a gut level. I really "dig" their sound, and so I listen to it - it has nothing to do with their allegedly "deep social commentary" or whatever. The same applies for most of the music I listen to on a regular basis.

Thom pretty much ditched the melodies after 'OK Computer' - after that I've lost interest in them - their electric-rock noddling in the albums that followed I found highly pretentious and just outright boring.

Re: Seriously, why do people like Radiohead?
Then again, I have an extremely high tolerance for "noisiness" in music. I don't find Radiohead particularly "out there" in terms of musical experimentation - there are bands and musicians I like that are much less melodic and that have far less interest in traditional musical structure in general.

Avril Lavigne likes them

Re: Seriously, why do people like Radiohead?
I liked them through Kid A and HTTF to a lesser degree, haven't really enjoyed much after that. I've seen them live every tour since OK Computer, but the last show I saw was pretty disappointing. They used to be my favorite band, now I could care less about Thom's solo stuff, and really don't care if they release any more music as I just don't enjoy what they're doing. And I like a lot of Electronic music, I just don't think that they do it well.

Why does anyone worry about why other people like certain music? How do you know what my ears hear? I'm 43, never was cool and now it doesn't matter. I love Radiohead. I put on my headphones and their music gives my ears great pleasure.
