Who needs a new turntable? This Thorens is on sale for 699, usually 1100. Come preinstalled with a 2M Blue that is usually around 225 by itself. Ive heard one of these paired with some vintage gear and it sounded really nice.

Me at the start of 2017: I'm going to try to buy less vinyl this year.

Me yesterday: What have I done? I still have, like, four more in the mail...

Don't you collect mostly video game soundtracks? How many were released in the last year?

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Yes, video game vinyl has become a bit of an obsession for me. Both the combination of hearing classic chiptune stuff (Streets of Rage I & II, Outrun, Shinobi III, etc. the SEGA stuff is really treated with love) and modern orchestral (Ori and The Blind Forest) or even synthwave music made/compiled for games (Hotline Miami 1 & 2, Furi, etc.)... I kind of love all of it. :)

I haven't used vgmdb.net to search before, so I may be getting it wrong, but it looks like there were 186 releases in 2017 thus far. 139 in 2016... which was way up from 65 in 2015. I don't think I own anything released before 2015 (though I have my eye on a few on Discogs...), so I have about 40 or 50 video game music records.

My copy of the Portal soundtrack is arriving today. :D

I usually pick up one or two of these when they do this. Probably get the Aretha Franklin. The All analog T Rex they did in October was excellent.

Guys.
It's 2 weeks into 2018 and I haven't bought a single record (although I have one on the way that I ordered at the end of December), and I don't have any specific albums I'm anticipating purchasing.

The fuck?

Just pre-ordered Fu Manchu's new LP called Clone of the Universe. They sold out the preorder - comes with a bunch of extras and such.

Son of a bitch!

I knew the new album was coming, and I looked for a pre-order before they had one, and I think they put it up just a day or two after I was looking for it, and then totally missed it. Fuck fuckety fuck fuck.

There's a little statement at the bottom saying more LP's coming soon. They're also playing a record release show at The Troubador next month. I'm trying to swing that date.

I'm goin back to LA in two weeks for a few days. Can anyone recommend any decent record stores. Preferably with decent used selections? I know about and have been to Amoeba. I was thinking about Permanent the other one close to Amoeba who's name slips my mind. I'm into a wide range of stuff from 50's & 60's garage to punk and metal.
My hotels are in the Hollywood area and Downtown.

I’m jealous! I just bought 2 lps and have 2 on order from amazon (the start your ear off right Dio releases that for some ducking reason have not become available) and have 2 on preorder for February already. Ugh.

I just got the Golden Smog "Weird Tales" green records from the Rhino promotion - great pressing! (except for some strange static on a couple songs on side 3).

The Badfinger reissue has my attention as well. Many consider it their strongest album and am curious to hear how it sounds compared to the initial pressing. This album had a limited run so those are hard to come by these days.

Did you guys know the 6 LP Star Wars set is $90 on Think Geek? Never could get myself to order it at 200 or 150. Then I was kinda kissed about individuals original trilogy being released on gold vinyl. I hear this set sounds excellent.

So enjoy the ride records is releasing a 7” of the the Best or Coconut Pete! As y’all know that is the Late and great Bill Paxton character in Club Dread! They’re only pressing 500 and I think there are less than 100 now. I’d post a pic but haven’t figured out how from a phone. But this is a damn cool and fun release and Bill Paxton is awesome.

Preordered this from Amazon Germany:

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....gL._SL720_.jpg

$48 and some change shipped. NuclearBlast has the silver and gold variants but shipping is like 22Euro, so it's real expensive to get. I'm going for the regular black LPs and that's it.

For those interested, Amazon has a ton of records on sale today. Anything from Oasis to Big Star to Soundgarden.
