Yeah, I don't know what's on the EPs versus the albums to be honest. I'm sure there is some overlap and some unique EP tracks.
As for The Warriors, I ordered it when I pre-ordered The Thing and they sent The Warriors immediately. Still waiting on The Thing. And you lucky stiff! They haven't sent me shit. |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
Wow, what a total list of shit for RSD. On the plus side, I'll be saving lots of money this year.

Weird how the Black Friday "mini" RSD was way better than this one. |

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Nothing for RSD is much of a draw for me. Skipping it this year
In other news, dropped $400 for all this http://ironmaiden.com/news/article/n...am-black-vinyl even the Blaze albums. I like a lot of these (mostly Brave New World-on) and have the Picture Disc releases .. while they look cool, they sound like crap and have a ton of skips ..even on first play. |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
I will probably be at rsd getting a few things. The Bowie stuff. I thought Peter Hook had the New Order Live albums coming, but I guess not.
Still moving into the new house. Records are here. Stereo is at the old place. Trying to get store credit at a record store to buy some new speakers tomorrow. Trading my old stereo rack. It's actually a pretty nice metal Bell o' Getti rack I had from the 90s. Just doesn't fit here. Got a hella deal on a concrete stand. Was 1200 and marked down to 100 because of a chip. Should easily hold my McIntosh dream system... but seriously should be great for the turntable on these wood floors. The KEFS I was sorta tired of but also thought looked a little ugly in the new place. Looking at some used Vandersteens. Sold half my DVDs/blu rays at half price books. As always I am documenting some of the move at my Instagram: vinylfanmichael |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
There's actually one RSD release I want... in the UK. Fuck. Now I'll have to deal with ebay, which defeats the whole point of RSD.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
I went to a flea market the other day and found this little gem
Funny thing is it says it was recorded in Havana, Cuba but the picture looks more like South America http://www.audiophileusa.com/covers400/97152.jpg |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
Mondo is having free shipping all week and went to browse around real quick only to find this:
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/05...g?v=1484952857 My jaw dropped and hit this floor. This is one of my most favorite movies and its a good soundtrack. I like the score for Young Guns II more but its pretty cool to see this available. |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
I am 3 months into this new hobby and am now ready to take a pause, I have 619 Lp's in my collection from Estate Sales, Garage Sales, Vinyl Shows, Amazon and a "gift box" from a neighbor of my sister which had some true gems in it.
I've had to build a new LP Case for myself for the storage, I built a 2nd listening station in my basement with my old turntable, to add to my primary listening with the u-Turn Orbit in my living room. In my basement, I found a pair of old DBX soundview V speakers, they are giganto, but I found them for a buck at an estate sale, and they sound great in the basement listening to some old rock and roll. At this point I can settle into just listening to what I have and not feeling the need to build a collection from scratch. But will continue to add at a leisurely pace ;) Collecting and listening to vinyl is a lot of fun. But it has also spurred me on to organize my massive cd collection and I just joined spotify premium for even more music choices. A great hobby that is truly addicting! |

I do think I've gotten "most" of it out of my system though :) |

For any of you video game nerds, Mondo is selling the soundtrack to Silent Hill (the game, not the movie) on vinyl:

Re: The VINYL Thread!
I got a player for Christmas and am still learning where to go to browse/shop, both online and in meatspace. I went into one downtown record store but I didn't get a good vibe. I know there have to be more around here.
I've only gotten a few discs since getting the player, and most of them were gifts - but I've had fun rediscovering some of my old albums. I remember buying a bunch from the "record stores" when they started purging vinyl - I would buy pretty much any random alternative or metal album if it was less than three bucks or so. Anyway - today I went to a thrift store and saw they had albums. Hadn't thought about it before. Most of them were either in really crappy condition, or stuff I have absolutely no interest in - but they were .49 cents each so I spent a few minutes going through them. (Another thrift store had them for 5 bucks each, which is still a good deal depending on what it is but just seemed painful after seeing .49.) Anyway - I got this, one of my guilty pleasure movies: http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n..._165548955.jpg |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
I preordered the Escape From L.A. score by Shirley Walker & John Carpenter -- TwoHeadedDog has it for preorder, with only 1500 being pressed. I ordered it from Amazon, because it's $1-$2 cheaper.
Here's the details from THD's page: http://cdn3.bigcommerce.com/s-a8lg2/...236300.jpg?c=2 The Score Carpenter and Shirley Walker Composed for Escape from L.A.—the 1996 sequel to Escape from New York—Features the Creeping Tension So Loved by Carpenter Fans with a Little Rock and Roll Edge. John Carpenter is one of the most accomplished film directors alive, a master of horror and science fiction with such works as Halloween and Starman to his credit. He is also an innovative film score composer whose use of synthesizers to create suspense and dread in his films has influenced countless musicians within the film world and without. This first-ever vinyl release includes a whole album's worth of additional material not presented on the original CD release. Also, the double LP set is housed in a newly designed gatefold jacket featuring production stills. The album is pressed on Limited Edition Test Tube Clear with Plutoxin Virus Green Splatter Vinyl - only 1500 copies to be pressed. John Carpenter wasn't just a sci-fi and horror master, one of the best and most innovative directors of his generation - he was also a highly accomplished soundtrack composer whose pioneering use of synthesizers to create suspense and dread in his film socres influenced musicians both within the film world and without. And the score he composed - along with Shirley Walker - for his 1996 dystopic sequel Escape from L.A. offered the creeping, atmospheric tension that Carpenter fans crave; although, as this film was set in L.A. and featured plenty of dark humor, Carpenter and Walker threw in a bit of rock 'n' roll as well. The original soundtrack release included a mere 16 tracks and came out on CD exclusively; now, Real Gone Music not only has added another 16 tracks to the release, but is also bringing it to vinyl for the very first time! And not just any vinyl - do you remember how in the film Snake Plisskin is infected with the plutoxin virus that will prove fatal within ten hours unless he retrieves the "Sword of Damocles" super weapon and receives the antidote? Well, this limited edition double LP is pressed on test-tube clear with plutoxin virus green splatter vinyl...just make sure you don't let the vinyl scratch your skin! Brand new gatefold artwork featuring stills from the film production completes the package. Limited Edition - 1500 Copies Test Tube Clear with Plutoxin Virus Green Splatter vinyl First time on vinyl Gatefold jacket with 4-color inner spread Artwork features stills from the film production Side One: 1. Escape from New York - Main Title 2. History of Los Angeles ** 3. Fire Base Seven * 4. Snake Arrives * / Deportees * 5. Snake Gets Scratched * 6. Defense Lab * 7. Snake's Flashback * 8.
