It's funny, but AC/DC seems to get a pass from a lot of people that criticize KISS, but they're much more one dimensional than KISS musically, and no more sophisticated, either. Actually, some of KISS' music is far more sophisticated than AC/DC's...

Besides, you know what they say about opinions.

Which is why PERSONAL taste should have nothing to do with who gets in. It SHOULD be objective. How successful were you, how influential were you, were you a game changer?

KISS definitely was. BIG time.

(By the way, the two guys who put the band together in the first place have never left. That's all that really matters on that front.)
I believe it has to do with Gene's politics and the class warfare that Obama started that is this hatred for KISS.

This.

The hall of fame is the worst part of the museum it's in.

The museum has thousands of pieces of memorabilia from many, many artists... from HOFers to Britney Spears. Costumes, handwrittes lyrics, guitars, you name it. Being in the HOF does not mean your stuff is suddenly on display--it likely already was.

The HOF itself is literally a hallway of plaques.

In a rock n roll museum where you can spend 3 hours looking at stuff, you spend about 4 minutes in the HOF.

Oh, come-on. At least 90% of popular rock bands throw on makeup and strum power chords.

I don't get the need the need for a music hall of fame. There's certainly no movie hall of fame.

Maybe there should be. I've visited the R&R Hall of Fame and it's worth the trip to see. I went when they had their U2 exhibit.

Not exactly, but there is the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And much like Kiss and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Kim Kardashian and Corey Haim can't get a star because of their politics and Obama.

Hand/footprints outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre

Walk of Fame can be bought. I believe the hand/footprints outside the theatre are still an earned honor.

I was laughing so hard at this that Mrs Danger came over to see what was going on.

Anyway, Albert King should have been in there a long time ago ... I'm glad they had new management or something to allow Rush ... Joan Jett is only there because she's a girl ... KISS is the Thomas Kinkaide of rock: lots of flash but no substance ... Kraftwerk has influenced every synth band for forty years.

And still no Iron Maiden, either. Maiden is one of the biggest Metal bands of all time, and they can still sell out arenas and even stadiums, and not even a nomination?

They certainly influenced a ton of bands, too. They're iconic, even moreso than Metallica in a lot of ways (and Metallica got in a couple years ago).

Whatever. It would just be nice if the people running this thing didn't use it as their own personal HOF (if they took their positions seriously - they should be representing the rock fans, not the snobby critics, oh, wait - they ARE the snobby critics.)
