Re: MEGADETH: "Album 14" -2013
Well, I had no plans of going to see them tomorrow night at The Grove, but someone offered me a free pair of tickets. Hard to say no to that, which I didn't.

Megadeth Possibly Joining Forces With 'Countdown to Extinction' Producer on New Album, Mustaine Confirms
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine suggested that the band might once again team up with producer Max Norman, known for his production work on such classic efforts as "Countdown to Extinction," "Youthanasia," as well as mixing and engineering he did on "Rust in Peace."
The band already gave a strong indication that they'll continue with the same aggressive work pace and start working on the new album as soon as possible, but the latest announcement from Dave might really shake things up a bit.
Chatting with Full Metal Jackie (via Loudwire), Mustaine noted, "Well, we have already started the process of listening to licks and talking to people about working. The funny thing is, I'm not a big believer in coincidence. I think it's people's way of saying that there's no powers greater than us that help plan out our life. I totally believe in destiny.
"We just got done doing the Vevo acoustic performance a while ago and some lady walks by and goes, 'Hey, Max Norman says hi,' as the elevator door closes. I stuck my hand in the door and said, 'What did you say?' 'Max Norman says hi.' 'Max Norman? Max Norman Norman?' 'Yeah.' 'Wow. Really?' We kind of hadn't spoken in... Jesus, forever. So I call him up and asked him what he was doing.
"He had gotten out of making records and he's back into making records and I thought, 'I wonder what it would be like to maybe try one song with this guy and see if we can catch lightning twice,'" the frontman continued. "It's just neat to be in that position where you can do stuff like this."
However, things are far from set in stone at the moment. Directly asked on whether Max will produce the full album, Dave replied, "No. At this point right now I'd say definitive I don't know because we don't know. We don't even know when it's going to happen. I do know that I have tremendous respect for Max.
At this point, Mustaine confirmed definite involvement of another prominent producer - Cameron Webb. "I know Cameron Webb is going to be involved with the record for sure," he said.
"But I'm a capable record producer and I know if I did it solely with Cameron as much as he did the last record - he was one of Johnny K's guys," Mustaine continued. "Johnny had some stuff he had to do and Cameron filled in for him really well. We made a great team. I'd like to have Max try some stuff, but if it ain't right, it ain't right. Hard to think that something that Max would do wouldn't be right but, times are a little different. Sometimes people grow apart. I'm hopeful and optimistic."
Pointing out that he has too many riffs stacked up to use in this lifetime, Dave ended the chat with a cliff hanger. "You are going to die when you hear this other news I've got. I can't say anything right now, but we have this massive thing coming up in 2015 that's just so outrageous," he concluded.

I am leaving Megadeth
Due to artistic and musical differences, it is with great reluctance that I announce my departure from Megadeth to pursue my own musical direction. I want all of you to know how much I appreciate the amount that you the fans have accepted and respected me as a member of Megadeth for the last seven years, but it is time for me to move on. I wish Dave and everyone in Megadeth all the best. I am working on a few things of my own and hope that when they come out, you will all dig it.
Until then,
Chris. \m/

DAVE LOMBARDO Reportedly Open To Replacing SHAWN DROVER In MEGADETH
A BLABBERMOUTH.NET vistor by the name of Philip L. has filed the following report:
"I have just returned from [former SLAYER and current PHILM drummer Dave] Lombardo's clinic in Geneva, Switzerland (on November 26), which was very impressive.
"During the autograph session, Dave made it clear that he was open to the possibility of joining MEGADETH if the invitation were extended to him.
"As Dave was signing my copy of FANTÔMAS' 'The Director's Cut', I mentioned that MEGADETH are in need of a new drummer as of yesterday. Lombardo looked up with a big smile and said, before a number of other fans (verbatim): 'I know. I just heard. Dave [Mustaine] has my number, so I'm waiting.' He looked up at us, grinned, and moved on to sign the next fan's item. He might have made this reply in jest, but if nothing more, this indicates that Lombardo is open to the possibility of replacing MEGADETH's Shawn Drover. He appeared genuinely interested in the opportunity.
"Lombardo stated during the clinic that he has touring plans with his new project, PHILM, in the immediate future, but he didn't mention this in his reply to me concerning the MEGADETH slot.

Ellefson and Megadeth started following a couple Twitter accounts that might be interesting. I'm not saying this necessarily means anything, I'm just saying that the timing is very convenient...
