They'll be milking this for a year, at the very least.

Taylor came into the NYC restaurant where my daughter's roommate works for lunch today. She's flipping out right now.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Maybe it is a rumor or true but she has a feud with Olivia Rodrigo and views her as a the young female musician in past dreams who one day had the potential to supplant her as the biggest female pop global superstar.

Maybe the reason she picked Sabrina Carpenter to open the international dates.

You may recall that back in 2021, the same year that Olivia entered the music scene, Taylor released her version of her 2012 album Red, complete with previously unheard tracks "from the vault."

One of those vault songs was "Nothing New," which reveals that Taylor, now 33, has been anxiously fearing the day that she is replaced by a fresh, younger singer since she was 22 years old.

That is some of the dumbest shit I have ever heard in some time, and not just from you (this time), I saw people on Twitter speculating that 'vampire' is about her relationship with Taylor -- something that doesn't make a lick of sense. One thing Taylor, the most famous person in the world, is NOT, it's a 'fame fucker'. If you're going to focus on Taylor Swift lyrics to see how she relates to other star Singers, why not try these ones :

And we see you over there on the internet
Comparing all the girls who are killing it
But we figured you out
We all know now, we all got crowns
You need to calm down

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

But there could be some truth that she feels threatened by Rodrigo since she is younger and could take away her audience in the coming years or the mantle of the #1 female pop superstar.

We decided on Munich next summer. Our friends and their 13 yr old are coming with us. She saw Taylor on the last tour. One of her school friends asked her to go to the movie. She struggles as she didn’t want the experience to be spoiled. Also did not want her friend to feel bad. So didn’t want to say no because I will see her in Germany. She’s a good kid.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

It appears Taylor has moved into the Michael Corleone 'Settling all Family business' stage of her career. She's now suddenly credited as the sole songwriter of the Calvin Harris - Rhianna song "This Is What You Came For", removing Harris from credit. Pretty safe to assume it will end up on Reputation TV now. She DID forget that he existed!

She's a carny. She doesn't care about her fans as much as much as she cares about bilking them for every penny that they will spend. And I say this as someone who likes her music, but I find the way that she puts things out very off putting.

That's such a weird take. Nobody is forcing anyone to spend money, and she is putting out these special editions (and the fans are buying them) because the fans want them. I'm a fan, but I don't have the slightest interest in buying them. So -- shocker -- I don't buy them.

If she wanted to bilk the fans for every penny, she could easily have charged 3 times the ticket price that she did charge. I got tickets to the tour that were priced at $49, and there were a shitton of seats in that stadium that were offered at that price (ie, it wasn't just a few so she could claim she had a low ticket price). Given that seats like mine were later selling for $1000, it wasn't Taylor that was doing the bilking.

New variation of 1989 available for 48 hours for Obi-Wanna and slop to complain about and for JeffTheAlpaca to ignore until it's too late.

It's early 90s comic book variant covers all over again!

I don't understand why those bother people so much. They are collector's items for the people who care to collect. If you don't care, don't buy them.

Just like when DVDs, BDs, and 4Ks have double, triple or quadruple editions. No one is forcing you to buy them.

Just because you have FOMO  Taylor is offering those for her hardcore fans and if they have the money, then sure they are more than welcome to buy it. It's not hurting you or me.

I will pass

I am hoping they bring back the first variant cover with the changing the diaper pose.

I see those special editions listed at Ebay and looks like only a few people want to pay $70 for something that retailed for around $34 on her website.

I got it all out last time. I'm good. I was probably too harsh on her, I admit that. I was just in a mood.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

It's not even the vinyl that bothers me, because I don't buy vinyl, of any kind. I'm just still kind of annoyed that I had to buy the 3AM version of Midnights the next morning, after I had already pre-ordered and paid for the regular version. That was not an insignificant change, and it was not content that she added later to boost album sales numbers when they start to sag, which has become commonplace, and lots of modern artists do it. I don't really like it then either, but it's easier to digest.

Apparently Taylor got approval from SAG-AFTRA to allow her concert movie to be released in theaters.

Decker 09-08-23 05:30 PM

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I mentioned that earlier in this thread. But honestly, I don't even know why it would need it. I know Taylor is a SAG member, but she wouldn't be "acting" in the concert film, so I'm not sure why it would even need approval.

Josh-da-man 09-08-23 07:13 PM

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Union rules can be weird and draconian. I would think that a concert film would be classified as a documentary and not subject to SAG rules.

And speaking of Taylor rumors circulating today, word is that she will perform and has an announcement at the VMAs tonight!

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

No performing on live free TV or awards shows anymore is beneath her now.

He is not with her anymore?

Probably it will not work since she seems like she is serious and he is kind of goofy and likes being a clown.

:grumble: I hate Target bonus tracks. Though too be fair, the Target bonus tracks on 1989 (New Romantics) and Midnights (Hits Different) have been really great,
