Tom Waits - Bad As Me
Lou Reed/Metallica - Lulu

I don't see anything else being played for quite awhile.

Re: What are you listening to? — October 2011

i've been really digging on Beach Fossils lately. their self-titled album and the new EP What A Pleasure.

on the other end of the spectrum, i also started listening to GZA/Genius - Liquid Swords again.. haven't heard it since the 90's and it stands the test of time (for me). i really do not like most current hip-hop/rap today, but the 90's had some great hip-hop albums.

I checked the album out when I found out he was opening for Active Child on tour. It didn't impress me and, sadly, the live show didn't help change my mind any. Oh well.

Today it's been bootlegs of the recent Smashing Pumpkins tour. The new stuff is surprisingly good.

Re: What are you listening to? — October 2011

Didn't care for it. There's a few good tracks, but, like Björk's latest, there's just a lot of under-thought fluff in between everything. And the best tracks don't come close to their work on .

I also saw that Uffie (their collaborator on 's "Tthhee Ppaarrttyy") had an album out. It's not good, but better than some of the scathing reviews it's received.

<hr>

Today, it's been:

ColdplayMylo Xyloto (2011)

Coldplay's output continues on the same level of quality since X&Y: good, but I am not sure they will ever put out anything as good as their first two albums. I have a feeling they need to go into a studio, record stuff on 4-tracks over two weekends, and release that. Do it under a different band moniker if need be.

I'll have to keep listening, but it all blended into the background for me.

Richard SkeltonLandings (2010)

Richard Skelton started making music as a way to cope with his wife's death in 2004. His music is sometimes referred to as "landscape minimalism"; as I've been on a film score kick recently, it works well for me. Very interesting stuff.

Daft PunkTron: Legacy OST (2010)

It's funny. Until I started listening to this, I had forgotten much about this movie; even the fact that I had seen it. As I was listening, bits and pieces of the film came back. But the soundtrack doesn't capture the energy of the movie (of the little there was). It seemed better in the theater. At the same time, the movie wasn't all that great, so this is kind of confusing on the whole.

Pantha du PrinceBlack Noise (2010)

German minimalist techno.

Crysta Bell - This Train

Produced by David Lynch. He also plays on some of the songs and wrote all of the lyrics. I really like it.

Love it! Took some getting used to, because it's so different from their debut.
They did however steal alot from classic rock bands, I can hear alot of similarities. Managed to score tickets for two shows next year, looking forward to see how they can top their last tours!
