Re: Which music forum out there is best?

Its a good forum for sure Despite its inherent dopeyness from their most vocal Boomernerds, there's a good mix of obsessive audiophile info with broad music knowledge.

Though they really need a Beatles subforum...honestly...

Re: Which music forum out there is best?

Steve Hoffman forums are hysterical. People actually argue the minutae of why one $500 power cable is superior to another.

I'm convinced that it's the musical equivalent of playing kickball in the street when you were 10 years old. Nobody actually plays the game, they just congregate, set up all their equipment, then spend the next 2 hours bitching about how everyone else is cheating and breaking the rules. Nothing gets accomplished, everyone is butthurt, and they all take their toys and go home and listen to rare mono Beach Boys records.

The popcorn-munching smiley probably wouldn't exist if there was no SHTV...

Re: Which music forum out there is best?

SH Forums exist for two types: obsessive audiophiles and music fans generally (but not exclusively) between the ages of 35-65 and white.

There's a lot of deep and lively music discussion, which is why I post there and enjoy it. On the other hand, I am not an audiophile (at least by the way THEY tend to define it); I have a nice system but far from top-of-the-line. At one point they wanted to mandate that ALL members fill out their gear profile in order to comment on the quality of any particular release/pressing etc. That died on the vine pretty quick. It'd be the same fucking nerds screaming over and over again.

Cracking up at the Quadrophenia - The Director's Cut bitch thread

http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/sh...d.php?t=258160

Here's a summation:

What do you mean they're only releasing 8 tracks in 5.1?

Townshend hates his fans

Jon Astley is a horrible producer

Bob Pridden shouldn't be working on this

I posted to Steve Hoffman forums before they were popular. I can think of several better forums, but they're probably too off-the-radar for you.

What? This statement seems 100% wrong.

When I was 10, playing kickball or anything went almost perfectly. Kids actually play and enjoy the game or whatever they're doing. It's when we become adults that it takes forever to get our equipment on, decide the rules, and bicker over everything. Kids just relax and have fun.

Re: Which music forum out there is best?

Maybe not as big as Steve Hoffman, but I enjoy http://www.classicrockforums.com/forum/ . It isn't JUST a classic rock forum as there are subforums for every decade and several other genres get their love there. Most of the people there are very friendly and I enjoy the place.

I was banned from Steve Hoffman last year merely for defending myself to a few pricks who were personally attacking me for having an opinion, and I don't miss the place.

Hoffman can be kind of a prick at times. He slammed down hard on a poster in a "Overrated albums" thread for having the temerity to not suck "Pet Sounds"'s balls, basically responded with a "If you don't like Pet Sounds, why bother even posting here? LEAVE!" attitude. Then he deleted the thread when others pointed out (respectfully and more than a bit fearfully) the dickheadedness of his response.

I got banned there over a thread where people were complaining about those who stand up at concerts... because I dared say "sitting down is for old people" people started cussing me out, then I got banned when one poster got particularly personal by going tit for tat.

Don't miss the place, I much prefer the Classic Rock Forum.

Without a doubt

first post referencing another site copied to mod forum for discussion. Thread closed to avoid temptation to test what is currently allowed in terms of discussing "competing" sites.

He is answering the question with a valid answer, albeit and old question.

I'm a member at that site, it's real and fairly big.

I just looked over it and I don't think it is my cup of tea. If you are a big current top 40 or pop music fan though, it might be for you.
