Re: Portishead--First U.S Tour in 13 Years!! (2011)
I saw both concerts at the Hammerstein (NYC), and I was blown away. The band played with that perfect combination of delicacy and raw power. Beth Gibbons' voice .. wow.
I'd easily rate this as up there with the very best concerts I've seen.

Saw them two days in a row at Asbury Park and it was amazing, had a ticket to NYC, but was too tired to go. Only bought that ticket since I wasn't guranteed two nights in a row when I bought my ATP ticket.

I pre-ordered mine through their Official Site, via Sandbag Tickets. I got them a day or two after posting about it here. They were sent out October 7th (for the 21st show) but sent no email confirmation.
Sandbag's Customer Service is pretty horrible. Felt like I had to spam their mailbox to get them to respond to questions.
Also thanks to everyone who chimed in about their experience with this short tour. I can't wait to see them next week

Has anyone who's been to a show on this tour checked out the merch? Trying to get an idea of what they have.

I'm prepared to spend a ridiculous amount on a tour shirt. How ridiculous depends on how good the design is and how much I spend during the day at Amoeba and Rasputin lol.
I'm so excited for this I don't know how I'm gonna sleep.

I'd love a good looking show poster/lithograph but I don't think they're doing them. Easy money for a band like this.

The show in Berkeley was amazing. I've loved the band's music for over 14 years and I've never seen them live. It was like a dream come true, as cheesy as that sounds.
When they played a stripped-down version of "Wandering Star", my face almost melted off.
Thought Forms was also really great.

Yeah that was incredible. Really one of the best shows I've ever been to. So glad I had the chance.

Awesome show. Loved the theater, the stage, the lights, the screen and video effects, and of course the actual performance...hated the merch prices lol.
Fun time overall, too. Went with a great group. Didn't make it to the Noothgrush show lol.

It sounds lame but the only reason why I didn't go is because I didn't feel like driving back to Berkeley the second night in a row.
The merch prices for at least shirts were surprisingly decent. When I saw Sade with John Legend in Oakland a couple months ago, shirts were almost $50.
