The Joy Formidable
Loving this band right now.
Saw them melt faces at Coachella at a 2pm set.
Here's a couple clips:
Whirring (live)

Saw them in Boston a couple months ago, they were fantastic! One of my favorite shows of the year so far...

Good album. It's a bit derivative of about sixty other bands, but I like the metal double kick drums they work in from time to time. Sort of a mid point between Curve and Isis.

Saw them last month and they were amazing! Best show that I've seen in many years. "Whirring" and "Cradle" videos both have US and UK versions and I think the original UK versions are both superior to the new ones.

And to think I was the first one to ever mention them on this board way back when:
Thread: Who's your favourite independent (unsigned) artist?
I feel like a proud papa.

Yeah I saw them live a couple weeks ago in NYC. They definitely are louder live than on the album which is great. Closing with Whirring with that big inflatable cat thing was pretty epic.

Re: The Joy Formidable
I'd heard "Wolf's Law" a while back and didn't care for it at all. But it's REALLY grown on my since and I love it now.
Strangely, "Cholla" is harder, which I tend to prefer, but it kind of bored me too after about 1/2 way through. I wonder if it will grow on me too.
If "Whirring" and "Cradle" couldn't break through, it would be kind of ironic if "Wolf's Law" actually gets the band some serious recognition.
Although, can a band like this really get much radio play with the state of music right now?
I do not understand why they're putting out these songs and videos for an album that doesn't drop until January. That's going to be a very long wait, but I do hope they tour the US in the winter. Where I live, I much prefer seeing concerts during the 4 months of the year where it's actually comfortable.

I like this band, but the recipe is pretty simple:

Re: The Joy Formidable
Just learned that they will be headlining the local festival here in April, so pumped. I was looking at their tour dates in hopes of taking my son to his first concert as this is his current favorite band, big win!! And this little fest is FREE!!
