Songs where you like the Glee version better?

I first heard Fire on Glee and love it. The original Bruce Springsteen version does nothing for me.

Have you heard The Pointer Sisters version? Their cover that was actually the bigger chart hit (#2 on the Hot 100), and it is closer to the version that was done on the show.

I like the Warblers' versions of Teenage Dream, Hey Soul Sister and Raise Your Glass more than the originals.

I know what the thread title says, but I keep reading it as "Who prefers having red hot pokers shoved in their eyes instead of having chocolate cake?"

I don't like Don't Stop Believin' (Pilot Version) better than the original, but I do like the vocal arrangement. Unfortunately, most of the time their versions of songs seem to be pretty much like the originals.

Also, I guess Corey Monteith doesn't sing very well, because they auto-tune the hell out of his voice.

I must admit I really liked Puck's rendition of Neil Diamond's 'Sweet Caroline'

I also liked their merging of 'Borderline'/Open Your Heart'

None that I can think of. Some are definitely good but not better than the original.

The show tends to have them do karaoke versions of the songs anyway. Where are the good vocal harmonies in the first season? I guess they left that up to the Warblers.

Slayer - Angel Of Death.

The harmony in that first scream really does it for me!

The cast of Glee can do anything better than anyone. Even Granny Tranny porn.

Technically, The Pointer Sisters version is the "original", since Bruce never released a studio version. He actually wrote the song to give to Elvis, but since The King had a grabber on the toilet, that wasn't going to happen, and he then let the Pointers record it.

Here's Bruce's demo, showing how he imagined Elvis would record it:

I think it was just brilliant to have Fire sung by a guy and girl at the same time. It totally transforms the song.

I have never seen a single second of Glee or heard a single song performed by its cast. No interest.

Same here, come to think of it. Maybe we should post that in the Other Talk "I've Never..." thread.

I wonder how many young people that watch GLEE think GLEE created the song.

I'm pretty sure that everyone I've quoted would agree that there is room for all sorts of music appreciation in Music Talk and that others will welcome the variety that some members bring to the forum by their different take on things. Long may this continue!

Elmer Fudd did "Fire" the best.
