Lewed lyrics in "GREASED LIGHTNING" (from Grease)...

I hear the word "tit" and the lyric, "you are supreme, the chicks'll cream, for Greased Lightning!"

LOL - I know the "written" lyrics aren't like that, but they got away with it all the same. Good for them!

This is your best thread since Who "dissed" Sipowitz in NYPD BLUE regarding his clothing!

I hear they've since gotten away with curse words in a number of other theatrical movies as well.

They got away with it by adding an extra E to the words in question.

I remember when my Mom took away my "Back in Black" cassette in 1980 because "You Shook Me All Night Long" had the word "damn" in it.

Now this...

The Lewes are the men that will not be blamed for nothing.

Really, who is Lew, and why did he Lew these lyrics?

It's lyrics like this that make America's children soft, like frozen yogurt, in the face of our enemies!

I bought Grease on Blu-Ray a few mos ago and watched it for the first time in many years (I manage to avoid the endless repeats on cable) and seeing it as a 30-something it's interesting to see all the double entendres and "vulgarity" in it that likely wouldn't fly today considering it seems to be remembered as this family film, yet there's talk about condoms in it, etc...

It was the '70s. We weren't bunch of pussies back then. Hell, my parents took me to see Blazing Saddles when I was seven.

Then Reagan got into office and started pontificating, and the Moral Majority and other uptight groups proceeded to suck all the fun out of life.

I am tired of irresponsible parents thinking the whole world needs to suffer because they can't do a good job parenting. I remember parents bitching about The Dark Knight being inappropriate for six year olds... why does it need to be appropriate for them? Not everything has to be Hannah Montana.

When I saw TDK, a mum took her under tens into the cinema, watched about five minutes of the film and then left them there for the rest of it while presumably either going to see something else screening in the same complex or using the place as a "childminder" while she shopped.

I was... unimpressed.

My dad took me to see Batman Returns on the day it came out. To this day I still have fantasies of Michelle Pfeiffer in skintight vinyl.

What was this thread about again?

Heck, my mom took me to see Saturday Night Fever on my 13th birthday! LOL

One of my friends said when she went to see the Grease "sing-a-long" version they released in the theater earlier this year they "edited" the words to "Grease Lightning" on the screen!

When I was 13, I bought a ticket to the re-release of Bambi, then walked into the theater that was showing Animal House. :D

My mom and I were both big fans of the show Twin Peaks. Naturally, we went to see Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me together. Uh...awkward.

What do you mean the "written" lyrics aren't like that? The lyrics in the original show were plenty nasty.

Ditto, but that led my mom and I to see Lost Highway together. Double awkward.

Yeah, how crazy, a woman taking kids to see a movie based on a superhero comic for kids.

Sometimes you gotta step away and remind yourself "it's Batman".

Yeah, but you don't leave kids that young alone in a public place. I think that was more the point of his post.

from what I've read about the play version versus the film version of 'Grease' is that the former is actually alot 'racier' - the movie version was slightly watered down.

Lewd huh? And yet no one has mentioned the 'pussy wagon.'

Re: Lewed lyrics in "GREASED LIGHTNING" (from Grease)...

It's worse than you think. Look at the chorus:

Go, greased lightnin', you're burnin' up the quarter mile
Greased lightnin', go greased lightnin'
Go, greased lightnin', you're coastin' through the heat lap trials
Greased lightnin', go greased lightnin'
You are supreme, the chicks'll cream for greased lightnin'
Seems innocent enough until you realize that back in the fifties, "quarter mile" was slang for vagina, and "heat lap trials" was slang for rusty trombone. But that's because the song was written by a pereveret.
