rare music clips that you didn't think exist

Every so often on youtube I come across videos of bands where I didn't even think there was any existing footage of them. This is the most awesome video I've seen in a long time in this case as this has never been seen probably since it aired:

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ee9w_7UYeiM?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ee9w_7UYeiM?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

I know most here have probably never even heard of kaleidoscope but if you like Syd's Pink Floyd I think you would enjoy this band a lot.

Does anyone have any other rare music videos they stumbled across on there that were surprising to see?

I'm going to guess that particular clip has been seen at least 7,670 times since it aired.

There's a set of 6 clips with Elvis Costello during the Spike sessions where he plays songs from the album and chats. Cool Stuff

There used to be a clip of Holly and Joey Ramone doing I Got You Babe, but looks like it's been taken down.

Re: rare music clips that you didn't think exist

There are a lot of clips available from the fabulous Urgh! film. It's a crime this film never made it to DVD.

This clip is a personal favorite. RIP Lux buddy.

I had no clue until about a year ago that there was a promo shot for Eno's "China my China."

Sorry, I didn't get into Peter Gabriel until he released "SO" and my first experience with Genesis was "Invisible Touch". And while I think all parties mentioned are very talented musicians I never really got into them that much, but I did own the 2 albums i brought up as a kid.

Tori Amos and Michael Stipe in 1994 collaborated for a song to be used on the film Don Juan DeMarco. For whatever reason, it wasn't used in the film and the song has never been released. The short clip above is the only proof I've seen of the two of them working together.

Re: rare music clips that you didn't think exist

I have a mpg of the band Fear playing on SNL in 1981. Can't find any proper links to the clip though. I'm not really a fan of the band, but it's pretty nuts. From Wikipedia:

[The Decline of Western Civilization] brought the band to the attention of actor John Belushi, who lobbied successfully to get the band a spot as a musical guest on the 1981 Halloween episode of his former show Saturday Night Live. The band's appearance included a group of moshers, among them Belushi, Ian MacKaye of Minor Threat (and later Fugazi), Tesco Vee of The Meatmen (and later Tesco Vee's Hate Police), Harley Flanagan and John Joseph of The Cro-mags, and John Brannon of Negative Approach. The show's director originally wanted to prevent the dancers from participating, so Belushi offered to be in the episode if the dancers were allowed to stay. The end result was the shortening of Fear's appearance on TV. They started their second performance by saying, "It's great to be in New Jersey," drawing boos from SNL's New York live audience. Fear played "Beef Bologna," "New York's Alright If You Like Saxophones," and started to play "Let's Have a War" when the audio and video of the telecast faded into commercial. During the performance the slamdancers left ripe pumpkin remains on the set and stage speakers. Belushi also offered Fear the soundtrack for his major motion picture Neighbors. The movie studio eventually forced Fear off the project after Belushi's death. Shortly after the 1981 Halloween SNL appearance, which resulted in $20,000 in damages, some clubs chose not to hire the band.

Re: rare music clips that you didn't think exist

Not the first time this has been posted here, but I was more than pleasantly surprised a few years ago when I discovered The Monks had some very good quality 60's vid clips. It would have been a terrible shame had this stuff not been recorded:

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-5iI0__9S1c?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-5iI0__9S1c?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Re: rare music clips that you didn't think exist

I discovered this one a year or two ago---a demo version or something, recorded in Mick Jones basement. I'll go out on a limb and suggest that Don Letts may have been smoking something other than a cigarette

Yeah, but they got better eventually, don't worry.

Yeah they went on to become an amazingly original (but never boring) band:

Re: rare music clips that you didn't think exist

In honor of getting the remastered Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine today, here's two old Trent Reznor clips I'd never seen before:

Performing live with Option 30:

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/IhyyQZ67544?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/IhyyQZ67544?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

And I don't even know what to say about this one. They're called Slam Bamboo:

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/tgOJPB4OSzQ?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/tgOJPB4OSzQ?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

I remember being excited about them collaborating, but yeah, that clip is all I've ever seen. It's too bad a copy of the song never slipped out.

Yikes.

He is in the first one. In Slam Bamboo he seems to be the only one trying to look cool. Or maybe the only one succeeding. I guess it depends how you look at it.

^ Except for the fact that the chapter stops don't correspond to the acts, that's a great disc. Widescreen and great audio and video quality. Plus, it's the complete show, which has been hard to find.

Lemmy back his hawkwind days kicking some ass.
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0tDgzBd2hD4?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0tDgzBd2hD4?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Unfortunately, Stacia keeps her clothes on.

here's Kraftwerk prior to "Autobahn" on German TV:
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/EF6Uzzr-DEU?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/EF6Uzzr-DEU?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

And a clip which was somewhat legendary but is now readily available as they put it out on DVD... The Jam doing a great "Funeral Pyre" on a ridiculous Swedish TV show in 1981 (Bruce Foxton: most underrated bassist of all time?):
