Sufjan Stevens: All Delighted People EP - Available Now!
from Pitchfork:
He's baaaack! Literary indie-pop god Sufjan Stevens is touring this fall, and now he's returned to the fold big-time with All Delighted People, a new eight-song, 60-minute EP that he's released onto the internet effective right now! At this very second, you can cruise on over to Sufjan's Bandcamp page to buy the EP for a super-reasonable $5, or stream the whole thing for free above. Two songs on here are more than 11 minutes long! Holy shit! Let's go!
The Asthmatic Kitty website reports that they'll have a physical version of the EP ready to go soon. Hopefully in December, the label will release single-CD and double-LP 180-gram versions of the EP, thus marking perhaps the first time in history anyone has released a double-LP EP. But, I mean, you're not going to wait for the physical version, are you? This shit is available right now! (It'll also be for sale on iTunes, Amazon, and "other corporate entities" this Monday.)
Below, we've got the tracklist; all the lyrics are available for your perusal on that Bandcamp page. Here's how the Asthmatic Kitty website describes the EP:
The EP, All Delighted People, is built around two different versions of Sufjan’s long-form epic ballad "All Delighted People," a dramatic homage to the Apocalypse, existential ennui, and Paul Simon’s "Sounds of Silence." Sounds delightful, yes! The song was originally workshopped (oh we hate making workshop a verb, but time is money!) on Sufjan’s previous tour in the fall of 2009. Other songs on the EP include the 17-minute guitar jam-for-single-mothers "Djohariah," and the gothic piano ballad "The Owl and the Tanager," a live-show mainstay (and Debbie Downer if you ask us; what’s it doing on a "Delighted" EP?). The full track list is available right here.
All Delighted People:
01 All Delighted People (Original Version)
02 Enchanting Ghost
03 Heirloom
04 From the Mouth of Gabriel
05 The Owl and the Tanager
06 All Delighted People (Classic Rock Version)
07 Arnika
08 Djohariah

8 songs and 60 min...thats an EP?
personally i think he is horribly overrated so i cant express excitement. was just curious why this is called an EP.
