Any Shriekback fans?
I need some album recommedations.
I just got the track Nemesis due to listening to an 80s radion station and love it. I had The Big Hush anyway and need some recommedations please.

"Care" and "Oil and Gold" are the two older albums I like best. An underrated album by them is "Sacred City". That one still sounds cool to me today. Stay away from "Go Bang" (horrid mess). I just checked their compilation discs and key tracks are missing from each one, but that could be a way to go. Glad I saw these guys live back in '86.
BTW, lead singer Barry Andrews' son, Finn, is the lead singer of The Veils.

On a total whim, a record store I used to frequent in Huntington Beach offered me a free pair of tickets to see them back when "Sacred City" had been released. I took my wife and it was easily one of the best live shows we have ever seen. While their output was sometimes spotty, "Oil and Gold" is essential. Not a bad track on the album.

"Faded Flowers" is one of my all time favorite songs. I have a great compilation (the Y Records years) of some of their earlier dancier stuff ("My Spine is the Baseline" etc) that's worth checking out if you like the more "upbeat" stuff like Nemesis.

Nemesis is a great song, although I must confess that's the only one of their songs I know.
See, that's why I don't have time for new music---I still haven't even explored all the great stuff from my favorite era, when I was a youngling.

I had "Big Night Music" and "Oil and Gold" in the late 80''s but the only song I really remember is Nemesis.

I'm a fan of the earlier stuff on their first two albums, Care and Tench. Stripped down, bass-heavy tunes of which a couple ("All Lined Up" and "My Spine (Is The Bassline)") are bona fide classics.

Yep, rabid fan. If you can find them get 'The Infinite' (compilation) and 'Evolution' (another comp), 'Big Night Music' too. (Plus the rest of 'Oil and Gold.)

My Spine Is The Bassline .. is the song that caught me from the start.
That they had the bass-player from Gang Of Four also meant I just had to check Shriekback out.
imho, the Gang Of Four were the best British Punk band.

The only reason I have that album is because the band had the keyboard player from the early XTC albums.
