Your musical extremes

I keep my iPod on random when I drive around and it struck me as amusing when, after a serene instrumental track had completed, it launched into something with blast beats and cookie monster vocals. It got me to thinking how I've got such extreme variations in my musical tastes, so I was wondering what other people would consider their own personal extremes.

So, pick one song which exemplifies one side of your tastes, and another on the opposite side of the spectrum.

I'll begin.

Re: Your musical extremes

I like 60s garage rock a lot but I also like a lot of new wave/synth music (Japan, Numan, early Duran Duran, a-ha, etc.) Haven't really run across anyone else that likes both ever.

Re: Your musical extremes

Impossible. I would spend the next seven years listing things.

I think anyone who actually appreciates music (rather than just listening to top 40 radio or whatever their peer group deems acceptable) will have wide-ranging tastes.

Re: Your musical extremes

Ok... so maybe I didn't sum my idea up succinctly in the OP.

Basically, I'm just asking that you post 2 songs of your own choosing which represent 2 polar opposites of your musical spectrum.

Everyone has wide-ranging tastes (at least, they should), so I'd consider it redundant to post the types of music you enjoy.

Just pick 2 different artists. Doesn't have to be shit you listen to everyday, mine weren't.

Pretty Vacant

Siegfried's Rhine Journey

Though when I think about it, they are kinda the same(artists not the songs).

I was thinking about this today during my commute. I don't have an iPod, but in my car I have both Slayer "Reign In Blood" and Marvin Gaye "What's Goin On"

I was recently shuffling on my ipod and it went from Suicidal Tendencies [about as far into the chainsaw/cookie monster stuff as I can go is Carcass] to Pet Clark. I've also had it jump from Einstuezende Neubauten to Gustav Holst.

I was a big thrash fan back in the day, but I never made it to the growlers. Kreator was as far as I could go when it came to the creepy voices.

I'm going with the first two songs that came up on my shuffle. Two of my all time favorite songs.

I listen to pretty much everything except Rap/Hip Hop and modern Country music.

I love classic Country, Bluegrass, Blues, Classic Rock, Metal, and Punk.
