Dave Matthews Band to take 2011 off after 20 consecutive years of touring
A Message To Our Fans
As we feel the excitement building for this summer, we wanted to let everyone know that after twenty years of consecutive touring, Dave Matthews Band will be taking 2011 off. We feel lucky that our tours are a part of so many people's lives, and wanted to give everyone as much notice as possible. We're excited to make this summer one of our best tours yet, and look forward to returning to the road in 2012.

Hopefully they really bring it this summer. I know there are a few DMB fans here, thought I'd pass the info along.

To keep the dream alive, couldn't they have done a small limited venue tour and not broken the streak?

To be honest every single live release has its very own feel to it despite some repeated songs. I had the same feelings that you had about the abundance of live albums until I got my hands on each of them and gave them a listen. There are many (versions of) songs throughout that I could live throughout but there are some very powerful versions of songs like Satellite and The Stone to name a few that moved me much more than the studio albums. Is anyone on here going to their show in St. Louis on June 16th? We'll be there.

I'll be checking them out while I am in michigan. I just wish they would stop playing the Mile High Music Festival and hit up Red Rocks again. The 4 day set they did back in 2005 was amazing...

Wow, I didn't realize they had been touring for twenty consecutive years. I hope they enjoy some time off and that Dave writes some good material for their follow up album to Grugrux, an album that really has grown on me ( You & Me is as good as anything he's written since "Ants"). I was a little disappointed that he didn't hit Vegas with the summer tour, but maybe they'll hit here on a fall leg.

I just hope they at least do some writing.

Damn. I was thinking of passing this year since I saw them last year (my first time - loved it!). Now I'm leaning towards finding a ticket.

Not a big fan, but 20 years is a long time. I suppose a break is in order.

Well, not really a surprise, but DMB has added a brief Fall Tour this fall. So if you missed them this summer, this could be your last chance for a while.
