I spent last night listening to West Indian Girl, the band that Ms. Reznor is/was the lead for. I like her voice. It'll be interesting to see where this project goes. As a Mr. Reznor fanboy, this is very exciting.

Why bother? I've been a NIN fan for over 17 years, but Trent's music is always going to have a NIN sound. Call it whatever you want, but that clip sounds like another one of his records to me. Not saying that's a bad thing...

I agree with both of your statements. It's interesting that certain artists can leave such a strong imprint on any of their projects. Even if he makes an album that's completely different than anything he's ever done, it can still be easily identified as something he worked on, for better or worse. The Saul Williams album is a good example of that.

The same sentiment can be applied to radiohead. No matter how far they go from their previous "sound," or if they change their name, they'll still sound like radiohead.

It sounds cool so far. The music on Saul's album was also good, but I didn't care for Saul himself. That didn't surprise me, as I didn't like Saul beforehand. I do like Mariqueen's voice, so I'm looking forward to this album.

7-minute song titled "A Drowning"

To me, it sounds like it belongs on the "Still" album, but with Mariqueen singing. Very mellow. I like it.

I kinda wish she was utilized vocally more, maybe I was thinking this was gonna be like some kinda Snake River Conspiracy loud industrial project or something. Though I dig this also to chill to..kinda reminds me of Tweaker.

Also the whole ending makes me think of The Day The World Went Away

It will probably never happen, Year Zero will end up being Reznor's "1.Outside".
I have always loved NIN and have enjoyed the recent work. But there is no doubt Reznor has produced a lot more filler material for the past 3 Albums.
Somewhere inside of With Teeth, Year Zero and The Slip there is a GREAT NIN album.
