Dessa - A Badly Broken Code
I would describe this girl as a cross between Ani Difranco and Lauryn Hill. It is R&B/Rap with strings and amazing lyrical content. It is entertaining, intellectual rap. Album is great from beginning to end.

Great album. I'd recommend ALL of the Doomtree stuff. Made the trek out a few weeks ago to catch her, Astronautalis, and POS. Amazing show!

Got to meet Dessa last night after a local show. She's doing some very interesting, beautiful stuff lately. On one hand, she's recently released probably her most powerful album CHIME (check out the single "Fire Drills"), and on the other, she's just put out SOUND THE BELLS, on which she covers some of her greatest songs while backed by the Minnesota Orchestra.
