In that case, anyone listen to this yet? It's growing on me, but it sounds more like thier last two records, and less like "Around the Fur" as Chino claimed. A bit too emo/shoegazey at times, not a lot of heavy hitting riffs, but it's a good record.

This was one of my favorite bands in middle and high school, but my musical tastes have changed dramatically since then. That being said I still have a soft spot for Deftones and will download the album out of curiosity's sake.

Listened through the album..definitely not like Around The Fur and more towards White Pony as suggested.
I like the harder songs on the album and like the more melodic ones less.
CMND/CTRL is pretty a pretty fun goto song for me. The crazy dropped tuning straight drum beat with chino screaming the verses is a good commuting song.
I also like Prince, Royal, and Rocket Skates is probably the strongest track for me. I remember I didn't like some of the endings to the songs, they seem to just end when in my mind I was waiting for some crazy rhythmic outro that didn't happen. This is definitely stronger than Saturday Night Wrist.

CMND/CTRL is fantastic...but dare I say You've Seen the Butcher is the best track on the album.
I'm enjoying this album a lot, more so than anything since White Pony. I liked Saturday Night Wrist as well (I have quite a varied musical palate...and the Cure influence to the album was great for me...). Then again, I'm a complete Deftones fanboy...

Huge fan from Adrenaline on and I've been slightly disappointed with the last few releases. I love this record and put it only behind the first 2. I can see the White Pony comparisons (and I like WP) but I think that the sound kind of covers their entire catalog. I definitely hope to catch them again this year.

I am in the minority since I really enjoyed the last two records (Saturday Night Wrist more than Deftones), but the new stuff is pretty goddamn awesome. My comments echo previous posters.

Granted, I am not as \m/ as I used to be, but the cream usually rises to the top I suppose.

Yea, that'll do a lot now that it's leaked. Best thing they could have done was release it asap, like, as soon as they're pressed and packed. At this point, moving it up won't help a thing. I'm still buying a copy, though.

So, just picked this up today. Seems a lot more "chill" and mellow than what I'm used to. But that certainly isn't a bad thing. Unfortunately, I see this being a lot more radio friendly than previous albums, so I'm not so sure this is their best effort.

Also, did Maverick Records fold or something? I see they are on Reprise now. I know both were a part of WB records, but that was weird to see.

Listening to it now. I'm enjoying it so far, even if it's a bit mellow.

Looked for it today but was only able to find the edited version. Probably will look again later in the week.
