Between the Buried and Me "the Great Misdirect"

www.myspace.com/betweentheburiedandme
it has their song "Obfuscation" and a 4 minute album teaser. The full album is out there, and this might be my new album of the year. I def hope the local chain here in MD carries the deluxe edition with a DVD featuring the full album in 5.1 sound, and a making of the album documentary.

A lot of talent in this band, but I can't get into them. It's too all over the place for me. Good luck to them, although I doubt they need luck at this point.

I love these guys and can hardly wait to get this judging from what I've heard so far. I ordered the deluxe but haven't received it yet.

Found the deluxe version at a record and tape traders in md. 14.99. the making of documentary on the making of the album is about 45 minutes and its really good thus far as it actually focuses on the making of the album. about 15 minutes of gear walk through, and the other side (yes its a flipper) is the full album in 5.1 surround sound

I'm pretty impressed with this album, even if I don't love the death vocals. Is Colors or Alaska a better place to start if I want to go through their back catalog?

Re: Between the Buried and Me "the Great Misdirect"

depends. if you want the proggier/longer songs, go with colors. Although Alaska does have quite a few long songs too. Their 2 most popular songs are prob Alaska (which a video was made) and Selkies which are both on 'Alaska'. Although that album also has the song 'crokies and boatshoes' which is prob as close to full on death metal as they've ever gone (its only a smidge over 2 minutes long and most of the lyrics in that song are hard to understand (even for me) .

and if anyone is interested

I just read that on Blabbermouth. I want to see Devin Townsend, as I like his solo stuff far more than SYL, but as an opener at a shitty location, I don't know. I'll probably see this, as BTBAM is one of my friend's favorite bands, and I'm sure she'll want to go.
