Defeats the purpose of the thread plus it is incredibly narrow minded. It's like saying you can tell you will like any movie 10 minutes into it. Often songs have evolutions to them, I know some of the ones I posted do. And I cannot count the songs over the years that I didn't like at all upon first listen & grew to love them.
The handful of people I've shared the song I posted haven't responded to it so if someone gave it a listen for a minute, I can't complain much. Originally Posted by Sessa17

But, I posted part 2, of a 20+ minute song, that doesn't really get going until after the 1 minute mark. One might have been able to find out whether or not it was for them in that opening minute or so but it is one of those songs that doesn't follow a set pattern if one decides to listen to the whole thing (and the entire 20 minute song would require one playing the three parts in order).

Don't be sad. It'll be all right. I think you will find most folks have decided by roughly the minute mark whether a song is to their liking or not. Most songs are three or four minutes. If I can't stand it at 60 seconds, what's the likelihood it will improve so dramatically that I will end up loving it by the end? Infinitesimal. Too bad you find that "incredibly narrow-minded". And your analogy with the first ten minutes of a movie is a false one.Wow really? That makes me sad

My first post in music. Uh oh.
Anyway, I'm strictly all about electronic music forms (Drum & Bass, Ambient, Chill out, Acid Jazz ..etc.) but I've never let go of what I'd consider the most simple and passionate song ever made ...

Dig the 'Depeche Mode' song.
Think this is a great cover version of a classic
Robbie Williams doesn't get the recognition he deserves here in the US.

The leadoff track from Paul Banks' (Lead singer from Interpol) solo project under the nom de plume Julian Plenti is a real winner. It's a pity the rest of the album is pretty meh, with the exception of the second song listed below, which has a righteous trumpet.

i've been missing stuff like Bruce Cockburn and Depeche Mode!? I guess that's what I get for not logging in for weeks at a time. I got another one (and yes, it's the same Steven Wright you thought it was):
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/rdwv077rPgE&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/rdwv077rPgE&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
You can download an mp3 of the song, as well as another, at his website.

^^That's actually quite nice. I only wish I could think of something cleverly deadpan and random.

I have been trying for a few days now to find a song by Willowon project playlist or Youtube... but nothing. So here is a link to her Cd Baby page with some samples of a few songs.
I got her promo album a few years back when i worked in a record store and loved it.
http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/willow2
I wish I could find some more stuff by her.
So instead I will post one of my favorite blues bands.

Some of you may remember this from the '80s:

You may remember Jars of Clay and their mid-90's song "Flood". This is my favorite song off their new album. (Not an official video, BTW.)

I really dug the Rosie Thomas song and video "Pretty Dress" early in this thread.
I hesitate to post this unofficial video because it is a computer animation short called "Kiwi" that has it's own life and fame apart from the song on youtube. But it does fit the song and it was the only version I could find...
Patti Griffin, "Mad Mission"

Close, actually its called The Peopletree Sessions and it is very, very different than The Diving Comedy. Its more of an experimental album.Originally Posted by xmiyux
